A serious fault condition

I am on Mac OS system running Sierra, when I try to run the game it says a serious fault condition has happened and quits. I downloaded the stable only, is it because I need to download the graphic? Or is it because I need to update my computer to Catalina? Thanks

There is a known bug that prevents OpenTTD 1.10.0 and 1.10.1 from working on macOS 10.12, it works on macOS 10.13 and later.

If you only play singleplayer, you can consider playing 1.10.0-RC1 which does not have the bug, but on the other hand it's missing fixes for several other bugs. Downloads for 1.10.0-RC1 here
