Hello to all,

I know my problem may have been posted a few times but I was unable to find a solution to the problem by myself.
I have basic computer skills, I curently am on Linux Debian since a few months, but I am very far from a linux pro.

As of the confinement going on in France, I wanted to play with my brother who lives 500 kms away.

I use a Huawei Mobile E5786 4G to acess internet at my home.

I went on the web to see how to "port forward" the "router" and I found and did this :
Port forwarding E5786
Port forwarding E5786

I also tried this ?
port open.jpg
(129.79 KiB) Not downloaded yet
I also tried installing an app to control the firewall, GUFW

I've also tried shutting down the firewall of my router, but still it was not possible for my brother to find my game on internet.

I even tried finding my game on another computer at home, using the wifi of my smartphone, but it was not possible to find the game
(I can find the game when I am on the same Wi-fi network, but in this case I can find the game through the local network and not internet...)

Thank you for you help,
Sorry for the english and the not so technical language !

I think there is a risk your modem does not have a public IP address itself.

Can you find out which IP address your modem/router thinks it has towards the internet, and then what https://www.whatismyip.com/ says your public IP address is? They need to be the same for it to work.

Apparently you named the right problem.

Solution is VPN or hosting the game from my brothers place !
