Did you play that game with any patch pack or modified version of OpenTTD?
The saveload version (116) seems to indicate it originates from the 0.7.x era.

EDIT: I managed to get an OpenTTD 0.7.5 running. As that fails to load that savegame as well, I can at least exclude an issue in the saveload of modern OpenTTD for ancient savegames

Code: Select all

dbg: [sl] Loading savegame version 116
dbg: [sl] Loading chunk GLOG
dbg: [sl] Loading chunk MAPS
dbg: [sl] Loading chunk MAPT
dbg: [sl] Loading chunk MAPO
dbg: [sl] Loading chunk MAP2
dbg: [sl] Loading chunk M3LO
dbg: [sl] Loading chunk M3HI
dbg: [sl] Loading chunk MAP5
dbg: [sl] Laden des Spieles fehlgeschlagen
Was it the times of ChillPP and similar?

First of all, thank you very much for trying to restore my damaged game!
The product version is 1.0.5-RC1; the OpenTTD file version is 1.0.5.21064.
I confirm that I have applied patches and new grf to reach an "Italian style" realism.
The new grf I have installed are from July 2003 to October 2010.
The only thing that I remember with certainty is that there was a problem during the last save, since my game was not small ...
I haven't any autosave from which to extrapolate my game... :'(

If you applied patches to the source code of 1.0.5 RC 1, then it's technically no longer 1.0.5 RC 1. You'll need to upload your custom version of OpenTTD for further assistance (if any can be provided at all).

As kamnet says: in order to have any hope in recovering that savegame, it will need the exact patches as source code you used back then - then one could create a new binary. Or much easier: you need to continue using that exact same patched version you had back then (it should still run, if you have it).

Ok. All understood. So, if it's OK I could attach here a .rar file (76,5 MB after maximum compression) of whole my OpenTTD folder.

inflate is a decompression method, so if that fails, the file is probably corrupted beyond repair. (maybe the end is missing)
You might not exactly be interested in Ferion, but if you are, have fun :)
