Forest missing from sub-arctic game

Trying out a second sub-arctic scenario only this time there's no forest anywhere..lots of mills and presses but still no wood to be chopped. My first scenario fared better by presenting :tadum: two forests to me. Is this usual or must I be doing something wrong, please? I've never generated my own game in a sub-arctic setting either.

So if your snowline is too low, or your mountains are too low, no forest.

Which is an extremely silly condition, because it's exactly the opposite of reality: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_line

OpenTTD is not a true simulation of the real world. It may be silly, but it does make forests in sub-arctic different in game-play which is likely why the rule was implemented.
Also, it makes nice white forest graphics visible which is worth it alone already
