Howdy.
I'm trying to run this on a Mac, OS X 10.3.
I get this error
Error: Cannot open file 'data/sample.cat'
I loook in the data dir, and, sure enough, there's no sample.cot file. the companying help file says that I need to copy Windows files, but does not say from where.
Can someone please point me to the files I need to make this run?
Thanks

Are you trying to run TTD or TTO?
I think there are some Mac (OS) users that can help. I can't personally. I avoid macs as much as possible.

I guess he is using OpenTTD? You need to download Windows TTD to get the required files if this is the case. You find a download topic from these forums.

TTD. Thanks for the reply.
You shouldn't avoid Macs, doing so makes you miss out on a whole segment of computing that is likely one of the most advanced today. Not disparaging Windows or Linux, just saying that Macs have a lot to offer anyone loooking to broaden his or her knowledge of computing environments. And i would even suggest that much of what you enjoy currently in your Windows and Linux environments got its start on Macs.
Also, OS X has very little in common with the older Mac OS; OS X is far more robust because of its UNIX kernal (FreeBSD based). I recently performed several updates, but before that, my Mac had been up and running continuously for 2 months. I use it daily and normally have 7 to 10 apps running simultaneously. It could easily have been up longer. OS X sports a full command line option with X11 server that runs with Aqua (OS X GUI). OS X can run many Linux and UNIX apps with little modification.
You might want to check out Macs, just to see what they are like today.

I did that, but I did not find a sample.cot file. All of the other files are present in the Mac download.Merri wrote:I guess he is using OpenTTD? You need to download Windows TTD to get the required files if this is the case. You find a download topic from these forums.
Unless you mean I need to DL the original Windows/Microprose game.
Thanks

Yes yes, OpenTTD is not TTD. It requires Windows TTD files in order to work (because of copyright issues). So download a Windows TTD setup files and you find the required file(s).
And btw, it is sample.CAT

Ummm, where do I find these Windows Files? Do I have to buy a copy of TTD?
Since it is almost impossible to buy a copy, see the topic List of download locations, which happens to be in this same forum room
