Hello there!
Didn't find anything regarding this topic, so here I am:
I started a server some months ago, published it and played with my girlfriend some time on it. After a few days It reaches the year 5000+ and futuristic stuff is everywhere. That is not appealing to both of us, cause we like steam machines and early diesel engines most.
Is there a possible way to start a dedicated server and restrict the year to maybe "1960" and only the days are getting counted - but not the year? So that these engines are not outdated a couple of years later and break down every week.
Would also be nice to play that on LAN cause everyone could get used to it, needs no new trains after a while and can focus on tracks and other stuff.

Re: Dedicated Server: Restrict max year
No, that's not possible.
The best you can do in vanilla OpenTTD is set the "min_active_clients" setting to 1. This will auto-pause the game when there are no players connected to the server.
You could have a look at the daylength patch: viewtopic.php?t=46399

Ha! Thank you for that!
Autopause + prolong days should be enough for our experience
