Playing sounds via esound?

Hi, I'm running OpenTTD under SuSe Linux 9.0, and usually I let XMMS play music while I'm playing. XMMS is playing via the esound daemon so that for example gaim can play sounds while the music is playing.

The problem is: OpenTTD is trying to play sounds via the Alsa driver, which is blocked by XMMS.

Is there a possibility to let OpenTTD use the esound daemon, or does anyone know another way to play mp3s while playing OTTD?

OpenTTD uses whatever SDL uses. Does esd have some sort of 'wrapper' program (eg, arts has artsdsp, which wraps /dev/dsp and redirects it to arts)?
