An unusual, but practical intersection (you could still add more lanes)

Perhaps see if you can't smooth out that terrain a bit though

Re: Locomotion Screenshots and Videos (No off-topic posting)
I think that the terrain was made like that on pupose...Because the climbs are a little bit seperated via this way, there's a smaller chance that trains will slow down a lot when they climb up.
The is intersection reminds me a lot of the intersections from TTD...They only difference being that 'normal' turns appear in this intersection instead of those ugly diagonal 'turns' from TTD I always hated those...If TTD had normal turns like Locomotion I would play it perhaps more often !

I took my inspiration from this image, but I simplified it :

Maybe you should give it a try with ten tracks of trains next to each other, to make it look real whahaha

Re: Locomotion Screenshots and Videos (No off-topic posting)
How often do you come across an intersection where you have 10 tracks that need to turn EDS? haha
Re: Locomotion Screenshots and Videos (No off-topic posting)
@robo: That's a very nice looking track layout, keep it up with your screenshots. The only potential problem I can see is if very long trains are used. depending on how many are using these lines, and signal placement, it could develop into a "traffic jam". However that's up to the player. don't worry about the landscape, it looks fine to me.
8/10 for this one.

Yes, the intersection combined with the adjusted landscape reminds me a bit of the face of an alien like E.T. , but there are probably some nice variations or this intersection possible.Greyfox wrote:don't worry about the landscape

Fairly often, it seems. Check out some of Zimmy's shots.Sir BNSF wrote:How often do you come across an intersection where you have 10 tracks that need to turn EDS? haha
Re: Locomotion Screenshots and Videos (No off-topic posting)
I build a variation with more lanes for railroads, which doesn't look that bad and tried the same with one-way-roads, it's possible but it didn't look good due to missing diagonal roads in locomotion.

Re: Locomotion Screenshots and Videos (No off-topic posting)
Now this I'll definitely have to use.
Re: Locomotion Screenshots and Videos (No off-topic posting)
The more I look at this design the less sense I see in having those U-loops that seem to have only one purpose - turning trains around.
Why would a train want to turn around and go back in the direction it came from? Why would a driverless car want to do that? This is madness...

Re: Locomotion Screenshots and Videos (No off-topic posting)
It looks nice but it ll not work wel, this cant handle many trains, you can have only 2 trains at the upper level, as soon as one of them has to wait the whole thing clocks up

Hello Zimmlock. Yes, this is what I meant in my previous post. This layout would only suit short passenger trains. Not suitable for long freight trains. Looks neat though, a fine effort.

I would have put that there myself for realism.Drury wrote:Why would a train want to turn around and go back in the direction it came from? Why would a driverless car want to do that? This is madness...
Re: Locomotion Screenshots and Videos (No off-topic posting)
Probably too much work, but theoretically it would be possible to create a nice mod for locomotion changing the railroad textures partly to asphalt textures for a few new road vehicles like trucks (but driving on rails) similar to the old robot rail car mod http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... +Rail+CarsGreyfox wrote: This layout would only suit short passenger trains. The normal town buildings could be replaced with agricultural tiles to produce wheat, which would free up one industry that could be used as a town that you can build whereever you want consisting of a few townbuildings without roads . These towns (based on one industry) could accept food and goods and produce a limtited number of passengers.

Re: Locomotion Screenshots and Videos (No off-topic posting)
I see that you're still using some of the default vehicles.
Re: Locomotion Screenshots and Videos (No off-topic posting)
Yes I use the default vehicles with most of my new industries / city buildings only because if I release the new mod I don't need permission for changing other peoples mods to haul stuff like bauxite, corn, beans among others. Creating a few buildings and making industries is enough work, making new vehicles (when there are so many already) just seems a bit too much time for now.
