Hey i am, but i am only doing it with my brother on local network. Do not know if it is possible completely online actually:(
Someone else have to answer that, but it is maybe possible.

Anyways i really want to so just tell me after getting an answer on if it is possible:D

It is a bit buggy if you did not know or if you have never tried:/ But it is possible, at least at local network:)

Download and use HAMACHI , is a program acts like a LAN more easy. Then use the Hamachi IP and not the Default IP on the internet.

THE RULES
1.- YOU CAN'T HAVE SAME SERIAL NUMBER ON TWO MACHINES.
2.- YOU SHOULD NOT USE LINUX DUE TO PLUG AND PLAY WINE TROUBLES.
3.- BOTH USERS SHOULD HAVE THE SAME MODS (at least the Scenario doesn't need it)

Does it allow the game to be played long-distance or is it still limited to LAN?

No, but it can be used for Locomotion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LogMeIn_Hamachi

It's an application that makes it possible to connect computers to one another over long distances as if they were part of a LAN.

(Double-post because no one would otherwise look at the topic again)

I should probably ask about this in a more appropriate forum, but I'm having trouble with it. I feel like I may be missing something, or perhaps a poor internet connection could be the culprit as my friend is on University wifi.

Yes , it should be , i've played Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour with three friends.

Hamachi may experiment LAG , that is why i recomend a fast connection more than 1 mbps.

My friend and I were having trouble using it, but her connection must be poor. In addition, I think I got a bit of malware when I downloaded it.
