No, I mean, if the presignals automatically appear in the appropriate places, then they don't add complexity to the playing, they just appear all by themselves when they're needed.

Well, you'd still have to make the appropriate signal layout so the game will understand that you want presignals.

But maybe the signal handling just got smarter.

That would be even better, because then it could handle "interchange" blocks, where multiple trains can be in the same block as long as their paths don't cross. This would give you more efficient stations.

That would really rule! Or else a LomoPatch could be started :P

Automation, mmm, no thanks. (unless its optional)

Don't like to argue with artificial AI's of games, that are
following the idea's of the programmer of how things should
work, or that protect the player from complexity or
mistakes. Whether its track laying, or signals.

Think that TTD(+patch/pre-signals) strong point is that the better you
get, the more complicated tracks your trying to make, the
more difficult -> challenging/fun the game gets. (or, the game has the
ability for growing/flexible complexity -> Long turn playebillety)

Automation, or support-AI's always seems to be a limiting factor in this formule.

Anyway, screenshot can't show gameplay,
Have to wait for a demo to find out what the game is going to be like.

(Arrgggg ... I can't wait)

Anyway, digging around the screen shots it seems trains have a limited slope angle.
Half the angle of ground slope.

Looking at the possible game play effects this will have.
Your not going to be able to just run up and down hills with
your train to go to the next town on the other side. Building
a tunnel will probably set you back more than you care to
pay for it  . So your going to have to make your way around
it, if possible, trying to maintain a minimal up and downs to
keep up the speed. Or ... your have to zig-zag your way upwards
to the pass of the mountain's to make it to the other side.
(kind a like real live trains) Considering a 180 degree turn
will have a minimum with of 4 squares, this is not going to
be that easy. 8)

It worst to me. I'm telling you, worst really. I know, you guys try to tell me that game is very good, good graphic etc, but, I hate it unless it have old graphic, even old like TTD, I still DON'T play that. For you everyone, you will like it but later you will don't like it. Doesn't matter if you're still playing it, you will bored.

For my opioion:
Too much graphics
It would make my computer slow
It would take a lot to load
No good graphic when you try to make curve railways, even bridge.
Too big space to build.

Good luck with your opioion. Have a nice day. Plus, it not joke. If you don't think so, this is NOT joke. Joke is a foolish.

aha, so rak, you say the graphics are to heavy, but at the same time you say the rail graphics suck. That sounds just that but as a contradiction to me...

If someone could translate Rak's post into English for me I'd be very grateful. I gave up after the third sentence.

After reading the publicity blurb put out by Chris Sawyer and looking at the screen shots of “Locomotion” I would like to contribute my ramblings.

1. I like the version of “Locomotion” by Kylie Minogue better (Curves are much nicer).
2. I will continue to play TTDX with the patch as I have become accustomed to it and appreciate all the hard work that has gone into getting it this far.
3. Locomotion looks too much like Roller Coaster Tycoon – something that will please my wife as RCT 1 is her all time favourite game. Even has a patch made by the patchman.
4. Out of all the train sims I have (Trainz, RRT 1 2 and 3, Microsh*t train Sim, Hornby Virtual Railroad, A train etc) nothing comes near to being as good to play as TTDX (with patch).
5. I will buy “Locomotion” when it is released in Australia. Even though it looks bad I am a sucker for these games.

I hope all the patch team will continue their great work on TTDX after Locomotion is released.

As an off topic :- Anyone have any good Roller Coasters for RCT 1?

I haven't decided whether I'll get it or not. I have little time to play games, so it's hard for me to learn a new one well. I bought Traffic Giant and couldn't figure out the interface AT ALL, which bodes poorly for Transport Giant which is by the same people. Locomotion shouldn't be too hard to handle I wouldn't think. I liked MSTS but I rarely play it, it's very time-consuming and most of the scenarios don't have enough traffic to be interesting, and it's very difficult to quickly switch from power to braking like you need to in the mountains. If I had the train-cab console it would be better but that's $150...

Oracle wrote: I also hope that those elevated train stations on viaducts above houses are expensive to build and/or rarely built because they're not exactly common.
Uncommon but look good. One very similar just up the road (30 kilometres away from me at Picton for Aussies in NSW) that is pretty impressive.

Also one Train Sim that I do like is "Bosco View Express", love sitting in the cab and tearing along through the country side.

If Locomotion is based on Roller Coaster Tycoon engine maybe someone coulod integrate them so we could setup transport systems to different Roller Coaster Parks.

Here are pictures from elevated stations in "real life". All the pictures are from Copenhagen.
None of them are taken by me, it is websites that I found:

1) This is a "preserved" or "protected" station,
meaning that the station may not be rebuild or changed. It was built in 1929-1930:

3)

The follwing pictures are from a website that has more than 6000 images
(this website http://www.l-eriksen.dk/rail/ ).
First some pictures from the new metro that was opened recently.
A part of the metro is a subway going very deep even under the harbour,
but the metro also gets up to the surface and then above the surface being an elevated train line:

7)

"Flintholm station" seen from the metro, 21. oktober 2003.
There is another train line crossing underneath as well as a road underneath.
There is also a paralel elevated train line but that can not be seen from this picture:

8) Here are many more pictues from that station:
