Locomotion with a joypad?

Does anybody here use a USB joypad to play Locomotion, and what kind of button layout do you have set?

I grew up playing consoles and cant stand using a PC keyboard & mouse to play games as it feels so unnatural.
I remember playing Railroad Tycoon 2 on Sega Dreamcast with a standard control pad years ago and it was really cool, so surely i cant be the only anti-keyboardist here.

Any suggestions for an XBOX360 pad (or any other USB controller configuration) with Locomotion would be greatly appreciated!
