Get Transport Tycoon Deluxe - Windows version (see the Download Locations topic in the General TT forum), and use TTDPatch to get it to work on XP - TTO simply will not work on XP, no matter what Combat's said.
yeah, absolutely... I'm sure I tried everything, I even ripped down my entire computer to nothing but a processor, 128 Mb memory, 1x 2GB hard disk, and a S3 Trio PCI. I installed a clean XP, but it just doesn't work... so forget about DOS version of TT(O)(D) working on XP
besides most of the good stuff in TTO was done in TTD with the patch so their are not many features that TTO has that TTDPatch does not have which makes TTDPatch so good
BTW i have got TTO and the world editor version i have windows 98
well, on slow computers you can see loading TTO loading in his content, that's what also happens in XP; and at some point the memory manager of XP crashes. DPMI XMS or such...
maybe it's a bit OT but I found a page (Polish ) where a men suggest that TTD can be run on XP without TTDPatch ... when I told him that's IMPOSSIBLE he said that it is possible with DX9 and some special PC settings .. anyway ... I think he's jerk and he lie (don't remember 2nd form) ... so I wrote to him about WHAT specific settings .... but he is silence up to now , silence more than half month ... but I'm still waiting coz I think he is once a month .... we will see
you cannot run TTO on 2000 or XP it is not possible, however to all you computer nuts out there all you have to do is dual boot with windows 98, so when you boot up you can then choose which operating system you want to use it dosent take up much space when you put the bog basic version of win98 on you machine half a gig to maybe 1 gig , now i know most of you out there will have more than 20 gig hard drives so just do this and it will work fine if you need to know how to dual boot just ask.
I have started TTD Dos in Windows2000 too, without sound.
But the longest play was around 1 minute, then ntvdm will destroy the process. Maybe because the memory will be totally corrupted. Who knows...
(I have written a starter for it...)
