I have had so many of these it is no longer hard for me to undo so here you go:

PS: Do not alter the road that I changed or your jam might reform.

if you have traffic problems use RV depots as waypoints
in TTD, traffic jams are formed because of the exit/entrance of the RV stations which is too small, the correct use of RV depots as waypoints is accorded by the driving side:

Code: Select all

   D1 B D2
======================
where
D1-2 are depots
B lorry/bus bay
= road

drive on left schedule:
D1 - B - D2

drive on right schedule:
D2 - B - D1

so, if you active RV queues all RV go into the depot and no more queues!

I too am finding this problem within my networks. Yet sadly that way does not work fine all the time. Even if I send all the vehicles to a depot, only a few will go there, the rest is still stuck. Next step would be to turn the remaining vehicles around. They do so and drive away a few tiles from the jam, but then they turn around again and re-enter the jam, despite that their destination is set to the nearest depot.

How can I prevent this from happening?

have you added the correct depot in the schedule?
have you activated the RV queues in patch config gui?
if the jam is already happened, you must be sure that no more vehicles can come to the jam area (do this by stopping vehicles to make queues outside the jam area), then try to invert direction of jammed vehicles, and if appear a message which notice that you can't invert direction try with another vehicle, now i make a savegame and post it so you can see what happen

edit: savegame added

If you get a jam keep telling the vehicles to turn around until they are free that is how I do it and it works (and how I unclogged Pipian's jam). Jams almost never form if there is a straight road connected to it.

Note: you may have to tell the same vehicle to turn around multiple times before it will get free, and if it turns around and re-enters your jam that is ok just keep going.

a little correction: jams form only when a vehicle is trying to pass throught a queue
