Can I trigger fast mode without holding hotkey?

Post by speeder »

I am testing a NewGRF I am doing.

I wanted to leave the game running on fast mode overnight to see if economy breaks or not.

How I do that?

No, not dumb.

I have no idea whatsover on how to make a NewGRF or any computor program, so who is dumb now.

You have nothing to worry about. It's good that you ask. Once, an addon was created to solve a problem... that did not really exist. I also devoted some time to help in refining it. :D

But when it comes to game speed ... and you know programming ... I have such a suggestion.

Currently the game provides three speeds:
  • pause
  • normal game speed (x1 or slower if the computer is heavily loaded)
  • maximum possible game speed (in extreme cases, probably over x1000, often over x100)
Sometimes this maximum speed is definitely too high. Not only during normal play, but also during testing.
Such a game speed bar would appear after hovering over the acceleration icon and pressing Ctrl.
Rolling the mouse forward would increase speed and backward decrease.
Anyway, I can write more details...

And one, two more arguments: Acceleration of the game always uses maximum from the processor. It is not good for its lifetime, and it is not always quiet.
I am sorry for may English. I know is bed.
