OpenTTD TempLater

Post by 532stary4 »

Hello everybody. I have played OpenTTD since childhood and recently got back into it.
DISCLAIMER: I am not a professional programmer.

I made this python program to help with building repetitive train stuff. I tried out the copy and paste patch but because it used a different version of OpentTTD I couldn't export my project to other computers. This program is version free but does rely on the UI up top and bottom so you need to use default 8 bit normal sized UI.

Here is a Youtube link for demonstration: https://youtu.be/TmQfbQJ5zo8
I didn't mention in the video but you can terraform the land using this and build bridges and tunnels as well.
It should also work with building roads but I didn't test that.
I programmed Y to close all tabs, center the screen to the mouse and reopen the train tab. Using y, z and scrolling was the only way I could solve moving around the map.

You could also use this to share templates but there are a few standards that should be put into place:
When building depots always click on the orientation.
Building signals should be used with the block signal and cycle with ctrl.
State whether your file is a recursive one or not.

Currently tested and works on Windows.
Windows exe download here no installation required:

Source code if you have python: https://github.com/532stary4/TempLater

If you have any questions post them below, but I might not reply straight away.
Have fun with the program.

It's absolutely amazing what people do to get that useless copy-paste instead of just learning a few hotkeys.
