Rails across tracks and tracks across rails

I am not sure whether it is towns or AIs which are building (see subject), but it is irritating.

I know there is an option to prevent towns from building roads.

I just wonder what people do to prevent you nicely architected networks from getting chopped to bits?

Lay rail tracks such that no road can be build over it perpendicular. The places where that is needed usually is limited and more or less obvious.

In case of doubt when it happens nevertheless: use go-via orders with drive-through road stops to guide your vehicles around such dangerous level crossings.

So are you saying either run rails diagonally or run verticle|horizontal on embankments?

I have played around and I don't see how to put my rails on an embankment that blocks roads.

The terraforming tools create gradually enough slopes that you can build road across them. They done produce steep drops.

Only a canal block a road. But I don't want place fish ponds on every 4th tile!

I prefer to use semaphores/signals. Simple and efficient.

As per one of your previous questions. JGR Patch pack is the answer. :wink:

At opening screen go to: Settings, at the top make a selection in Category, select EXPERT. In Type select ALL SETTINGS

At bottom EXPAND ALL find TOWNS, fourth one in this list TOWNS ARE ALLOLOWED TO BUILD LEVEL CROSSINGS.

Make it OFF (Red square)

Lots of other settings to play, with enjoy :D
