Rail traffic seems much more modeled than road, why?

Post by MarkShot »

Is it just the age of the game? (and RR tycoon games were popular at the time)

I played City Skylines for a while and it seemed efficient construction of traffic structures and signaling was important; of course, it was mainly for good flow rather than economy. (Some SimCity4 too with mods for road pieces.)

Comments?

Thanks.

Road traffic isn't that interesting to model when your trucks are the only things on the road, and the scale of Transport Tycoon has never lent itself well to having private motoring.
Also, most players that have gone on to work on the game have more of an interest in railroads than in the rest.

If you want any road signalisation, then there is a patch for traffic lights.
The only version I could find was a precompiled one in a patchpack (when you're a beginner, compiling may appear complicated). You can find it here : clicky me
