Hi!
I want to change the way the game calculates maintaince cost(Precisely, i want to reduce Airport maintaince cost).
Do i really have to use NewGRF-s for that? Since the game is open-source, isnt there a way, to just simply rewrite things defined by the game files? And if there is, which file defines these prices(thier formula)?

No, you don't have to use NewGRF; but you should, because someone has already done the work for you.
Download the "BaseCosts" NewGRF, and you can use it to alter any of the costs you like.
