Need opinions on the best terrain type.

Post by Maiconi »

So I have two types of mountainous terrain that I want to make the map entirely one or the other. Here are examples of both

Then I have an image that shows how the elevation changes affect roads

And then how it affects towns (Generated from Large and City)

Which one would be more "fun" to play on and which would be preferred for a custom map type.

Thank you.

Well, the right mountain appears to be less steep which helps with both road and city building. Not to mention it is viable to bring trains up there without going straight up a hill. I'd prefer that design, but then again it depends on what type of mountain you want to achieve.

I'd go with both tbh. Use steep slopes for peaks of really tall mountains that aren't going to have any population and serve as environmental obstacles, and the less steep ones for the rest of the country.

If you really want to go with just one go with the less steep one though.
