Complete pack suggestions?-newbie

Post by uzishan »

Hi,
So I've been playing OTTD for a while now, more like a casual relaxing game together with Transport Giant and Transport Fever. I always played the game with aBase activated as I liked the 32bpp ideea. Now then, being a newbie I would like to ask you all members for some recommendations for 32bpp graphic packs and other stuff not related to graphics to improve gameplay experience. Each time I tried using a pack or something I ended up breaking something at the game.

Cheers!
To game or not to game? that is the proper question.

Hey thanks for the tips! are those compatible with aBase and 32bpp? I mean the ones which also have graphic stuff

EDIT: just noticed you got opengfx(the 8bpp thingy)

First of all, use zBase instead of abase.
You may use the Famous Cars Toolbar to improve the toolbar of zBase; Use the Blowfish Style.

Well, 32bpp: Is a good start.

Only exist a few number of 32bpp sets.
It's a job, even, bigger than a normal set and it's ... A crazy job, in a good way :)

For more info, always you can see:
- NewGRF List
- GRFCrawler
The first is mostly updated but second has photos :D

what is the actual bigger zBase vs aBase difference? I always picked aBase as it had proper icons for 4k. Also I don't know why but i expected the ottd community to be bigger or so?

aBase has updated, prettier toolbar buttons. All other parts, such as vehicles and buildings, are identical to zBase.

aBase, a 99,999% copy of zBase, is the only one set in all OTTD world that requires money...
For the work of other people!!! Well, for icons, but a single icon 10$!!!!!

I don't like nothing. And I'm not the only one who think this.

aBase author remade almost all icons in the toolbar for free, then abandoned the project.
You still got an updated icon set, still for free, so you don't have a lot of reason to complain.
Yes, it would look prettier if he would simply tell us that he won't work on the project anymore instead of asking for money to continue working on it, but whatever.

No, he did not ask money for the work of other people, he asked money for his own work.

So, reviving an old thread.

is there any update on 32bpp mods you can add into the game?

in particular, is there any tram sets in 32bpp? or hover vehicles in 32bpp?

As far as I know, no new 32bpp NewGRF sets have been released since this thread was started in March. If they are, you'll likely see an announcement in the NewGRF Development or NewGRF Release discussion forums, and/or you will see a file added to the online in-game content download system. Asking here for continual updates will be much less productive.
