What kind of signals are beeing used here?

Post by ProphetSe7en »

I am trying to make my network work without to many traffic jams along the way. I try to build some line merge and line change, but I am not sure what kind of signals are being used. Are they using block signals in theese pictures, or are they using path signals, or maybe combo signals? None of my signals looks like the one in the pictures. Maybe it is because of a newgrf I am using?

They are all ordinary block signals. You may want to compare with https://wiki.openttd.org/Signals to get the signal type.
Alternatively, at its bottom is a list of tutorials that likely also have pictures of the signals.
Being a retired OpenTTD developer does not mean I know what I am doing.

They're one-way block signals, but in the TTDX baseset style. Yours are in OpenGFX style, and from the screenshot you linked, it appears that you're indeed using the correct signal type. Just a different sprite set. : )

I thought so too. But in the description for picture E it says that "All signals are combo signals except at points A and B which are entry signals, and the top right, which are exit signals.".

That description is referring solely to the signals that have that little horizontal yellow or vertical white/yellow bar below them, which are called pre-signals. The others are standard vanilla TTDX one-way signals, and the description probably ignored them altogether because of that (or because that was explained elsewhere wherever you got those images from).

I see.

One more question then. I was browsing through some games and I am wondering why they use different signals in the same spot on these pictures.
