First of all, get the original version from http://openttd.tt-forums.net/. Then get the update I released to the forum. Copy the english.lng and ttd.exe files from this update (english.lng may not be present, I can't remember), and put it in the "compact" directory of the original version. Copy the appropriate GRF files (including signalsw.grf, although that may only be in a later still version, can't remember), and run ttd.exe. Hopefully it should work.
I can't upload files larger than some pitifully small value here, although it seems to work via an SSL connection sometimes. If I figure out a way of uploading it, I'll release a properly working version soon.
