OpenTTD on Facebook

I thought we might use this thread to think up content for the facebook page. You can see in the timeline what it's been used for, so far. Traditional fancontent like graphics, screenshots etc go best at the forums, no need to have them on facebook. I think a facebook page is best used to keep people informed of new versions, current events, interesting game-related links, and so forth. The key of course is not spamming people's newsfeeds.

For some time now we've had enough people subbed to the page to have the chance for a "username". Sadly http://www.facebook.com/openttd has been grabbed by Luukland for his personal stuff. I'm hoping he'll release it especially now that he's quitting. If not, that leaves the possibility of claiming it in the project's name in cooperation with facebook customer support.

Also I think it is planned to put links to social medias on the main OTTD website. I'd prefer the actual facebook widgets but "non-spying" links will do as well, as long as people will be made aware that there's an OTTD presence on facebook.

Yes. I hope someone with more drive will take it over soon.

I did look at them when I was considering starting a new page. Most of them are either foreign communities, don't have an active senior project contributor or are just plain disorganized. This was discussed in the other thread.

That one's a community page, not a page. Not the same thing at all.

The OpenTTD Facebook page is nearing 1500 subscribers. What do we do over there? Not a lot. Mostly share content we find on TT-F, Reddit and YouTube. But, maybe you missed something? Or maybe you're looking to expand your circle of people who love and play OpenTTD? Share your enthusiasm with your social network!

Other than Jupix and Owen, I don't know of anybody's identity outside of tt-forums. Most people lurk anonymously.
