Missing Cargowagons

Post by noenie »

Hey there TT-forums, long time no see :3

I astumbled onto an issue with the ECS vectors! They have no cargowagons for my trains!
See this screenshot for the GRF´s i use.

I also wonder what the best signals to use for this kind of station

Code: Select all

s = station
- = track
g = signals

        /gssg\
  <-g--/-gssg-\---g---<
  >-g--\-gssg-/---g-->
        \gssg/
Id get tons of lockups with PBS.

For a list of compatible trainsets, see http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php?page=ECSSupport, however you have Old Wagons New Cargoes loaded, so that should be enough.

I also see that you have the Fix TTD grf Bugs patch loaded. If you are running Open TTD w/ the OpenGFX graphics (replacing the original TTD graphics) , then you definitely don't need this, and it may be the source of your problems.

The "Fix TTD bugs" NewGRF isn't needed in any case (with recent OpenTTD).

The answer will probably be: you need to refit the wagons as "Old wagons with New Cargos" is loaded.

I shall remove the Fix GRF. and i know about refitting, but those wagons dont match the cargo they load..
id like a bit more realsm in there..

As for the station, perhaps your not using PBS correctly? The screenshot shows a pretty simple way to make that layout (I drive on the left sorry). Notice the exit lanes and the distance before the first signal is encountered, this should be the length of you LONGEST vehicle.

Heres a save file which shows you whats going on.

There are only two types of signal used: path signal and one-way path signal. Check the wiki for more info on path based signals. Notice how more than one train can enter the same bit of track at the same time (The cross over bit each side of the station)

The old wagons new cargos grf just makes the default wagons refittable. It doesn't add any new graphics.

If you want more realistic graphics, use a proper new train grf. Or make your own. :)

Dude, i love you, got it working!
just one more question, is it possible to use a one-way signal for the exit?

As an aside - with that type of station it's good practice to make one platform in each direction 1-way (preferably the outermost platform) which prevents the station from jamming up and causing problems.

lol, no worries. You can have them all one way if you want doesn't make a difference.

@kirky_D: Ähm, no! If you use one-way signals directly in front of ALL platforms no train would ever be able to enter the station.

@noenie: audigex' suggestion would perform quite fine. :)

Oh yeah, I meant around the normal track, I wasn't clear enough. Cheers
