Train Collision Cheat
Hello everybody.
I am really excited discovering Open TTD and would like to express my admiration to the developers.
I used to play TTD a lot in the past and really enjoy Open TTD.
I have one question:
In the past I often used the Train Collision Cheat by placing a depot at the end of an opponents rail station and letting a train of mine roll into the opponents train, while it was in the rail station.
I tried to do the same thing in Open TTD using MagLev trains and it did not work.
Is the cheat "fixed" in OpenTTD or is there some way to destroy opponents' trains?

Re: Train Collision Cheat
It was a bug, and it was fixed quite a long time ago.

Re: Train Collision Cheat
You might be better off by buying them and redo their networks...
If you are not ready to work a bit for your ideas, it means they don't count much for you.
OpenTTD and Realism? Well... Here are a few thoughs on the matter.

Which opponent? Are you using OpenTTD 0.7.x?Palex80 wrote:Because my opponent builds in an ugly way.Bennythen00b wrote:Why would you destroy your opponents' trains?

Re: Train Collision Cheat
He may be talking about multiplayer
Re: Train Collision Cheat
In that case, there is an even easier way of "turning them off".
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Re: Train Collision Cheat
I imagine he's talking about the old AI. They did build very strangely didn't they?
I doubt he would intentionally crash other human players' trains just because he doesn't like the look of their network, unless he actually has aspergers or something.

Re: Train Collision Cheat
I meant the new AI.
I just didn't like how they build their rail lines.
Anyways...
One question:
I noticed that when an opponent builds roads but later on goes bankrupt and has to close, you can't remove those roads. The same's for bridges etc. Shouldn't that be fixed?

Re: Train Collision Cheat
Hehe, it's not for you to "like" them, it's for you to compete with them...
He's like, some kind of OpenTTD developer.
Re: Train Collision Cheat
I'm still awaiting your posts in the NoAI subforum explaining for each of the AIs you've tried that support rails why you don't like their rail lines and how it could be improved.Palex80 wrote:I meant the new AI.

Shouldn't you make bug reports at bugs.openttd.org? Shouldn't you include the exact problem (in this case the error message you get)?I noticed that when an opponent builds roads but later on goes bankrupt and has to close, you can't remove those roads. Which AI was it though? Admiral? NoCAB? Trans?Palex80 wrote:I meant the new AI.

I'm sure the AI's developer would like some feedback on how you think the rail lines could be improved.

Re: Train Collision Cheat
Me too, miss that old train collision option, to destory my opponents.
In multiplayer usually, we don't do it, but in usual game where is computer opponents, there i destroy them in any way i can.
It is fun, there should be an option, opponent train destroying/collision on/off or something like that.
So everyone can choose, how honestly they like to compete.
I played old original very first Transport Tycoon, this was so simple built menus, so beatuiful and so fun to destory opponents trains and cars.
Ok, cars i can destroy in open TTD also.
But my oppinion is, open ttd menus while you playing are getting inconvenient to use, old tycoon was much more comfortable menus.
One thing annoys me very much, landscaping toolbar, why there is extra button for that? Ok extra button, but train building menu, why is there no landscaping button in same toolbar for landscaping toolbar, it need only one button?
It could be much comfortable, that way.
Please don't, over develop it.

Im sorry but which part of having asperger’s is at all relevant to your statement? Try thinking before you type and remember that there are plenty of people on these very forums with asperger’s who might find your comments derogatory.caveatemptor wrote:unless he actually has aspergers or something.

Psst, that post is from 2009. I mean, it doesn't make what you say any less true ... just.
