Very nice!

how about: "Erzeuge Fracht nur an Stationen, an denen sie abtransportiert wird"?

"Industrien beliefern nur Stationen mit Transportmöglichkeit"?
"Industrien beliefern nur Stationen mit passendem Transport"?
I think the very last one describes the patch best. It also fits into the patch window.

I've tried correct all "too long" strings in the patch window, and everywhere in the game if it was practicable. I especially worked on the vehicle orders window.

All changes on german.txt proposed in this thread so far are put together in this diff. (Includes all missing translations too)

i cannot say i think all modifications were desireable, e.g. 'ohne Halt' for non-stop, and there are a few others i would like to address, just right now i am at work :-P

but a lot of those mods are quite neat :-)

Just by a very quick look, I noticed an inconsequent handling of lots of the terms:

E.g.:

- Ordne nach
- Erlaube Landschaftsbau ...
- Aktiviere realistische ...

but

- Sortieren nach
- Straßen bauen
- Hafen bauen

etc.

Do you see?

About one thing I read in your diff:

Code: Select all

+STR_CONFIG_PATCHES_NONSTOP_BY_DEFAULT                           :{LTBLUE}Neue Aufträge sind standardmäßig 'ohne Halt': {ORANGE}{STRING1}
Now that "nonstop" was changed from something that could mean two different things to only one of those two things, couldn't we rename this to "Ohne Zwischenstop"? Or would this be too long for some places (buttons...)?

("nonstop" now refers to the stations on the way to the station specified in the order; not stopping at that station itself is now called "go via")

edit: this one will probably be the problematic one:

Code: Select all

+STR_ORDER_NON_STOP :{BLACK}ohne Halt
This must be the one on the button. Maybe we could name it "ohne Zw.stop" or something like this, and in all other places where we have more space, we write it out ("ohne Zwischenstop")

---
edit2: there's a "t" missing here:

Code: Select all

+STR_ORDER_FULL_LOAD_ANY :(Voll beladen mit beliebiger Frach)
also, in some places there are capitalisation errors (or at least inconsistencies)

Code: Select all

+STR_ORDER_DROP_NO_LOADING :nicht Beladen
and
+STR_ORDER_NO_LOAD :(nicht Beladen)
("beladen" must be written with a small letter here)
* @Belugas wonders what is worst... a mom or a wife...
<Lakie> Well, they do the same thing but the code is different.

Told already in german Forum...

Is the Station spread really the only setting needing that "red warning"? There are other settings also need more power if you activate or rise it, so it should be obvious when you rise it. I would completely remove that red text for station spread.

Thanks for all those hints. I have attached an updated diff.
dihedral wrote:i personally like 'direkt' for 'non stop'

"direkt" was the translation I used first. But then you read "Gehe direkt über X nach Y". Which sounds funny. Now I left that one like "Gehe ohne halt über x nach Y" and changed all others to "direkt".

What do you think about all those strings in the order window? Are they reasonable?

that is a good suggestion, and it would also be small enough for the button.

I think I remember someone saying that this setting is not really such a memory hog as the warning text suggests. But it's not to the german translation to remove this warning, we should propose it to be removed in the english version (and then, following, all translations)

i have read through the diff above, and have a few comments:
angewendet
i'd really prefer "angewandt"
+STR_CONFIG_PATCHES_EXTRADYNAMITE :{LTBLUE}Erlaube die Entfernung von Industrien, Stadtbrücken usw.: {ORANGE}{STRING}
this setting never ever allowed the removal of industries (for that you need the magic bulldozer cheat)
the patch allows to remove roads that are connected on more than one side (circles) and bridges in towns, depending on town rating
Primärindustrien
i don't like this word... is there really no better translation for it? i also never heard the word "Prospektion" before...
+STR_CONFIG_PATCHES_DYNAMIC_ENGINES :{LTBLUE}Erlaube mehrfache NewGRF Fahrzeugsets: {ORANGE}{STRING}
"mehrere", as you mean more different sets, not the same set multiple times.

"Vorgegebenes Wartungsintervall" (multiple times)
STR_CONFIG_PATCHES_DEFAULT_SIGNAL_TYPE :{LTBLUE}Standard gebaute Signalart: {ORANGE}{STRING}
There are no words in elvish, entish or the tongues of men to describe the disgust i feel when reading this translation
+STR_WAYPOINT_VIEWPORT_LIST :{WHITE}{WAYPOINT} - {COMMA} Zug{P "" s}
what donkey has ridden you here? ... "{P Zug Züge}"
+STR_NETWORK_LANG_GALICIAN :Galicisch
that hurts my eyes, i'd prefer "Galizisch"
+STR_RAILROAD_TRACK_WITH_NOENTRYSIGNALS :Gleis mit erweitertem einseitigem Signal
"mit erweitertem einseitigen Signal"... the "m" is a remnant of the left out "dem", and thus appears only once. (mit dem erweiterten einseitigen Signal)
(multiple times)

also, there is still that unresolved issue about generally renaming the "advanced" signals.
+STR_LIVERY_PASSENGER_WAGON_ELECTRIC :Passagierwagen (elektr.)
+STR_LIVERY_PASSENGER_WAGON_MONORAIL :Reisezugwagen (Einsch.)
speaking about consistency...
-STR_ORDER_DROP_FULL_LOAD_ALL :Vollladen mit jeder Fracht
+STR_ORDER_DROP_FULL_LOAD_ALL :Volladen jeder Fracht
that's the worst you could have done... "voll beladen"
+STR_ORDER_FULL_LOAD_ANY :(Voll beladen mit beliebiger Frach)
"(mit einer Fracht voll beladen)"
STR_ORDER_CONDITIONAL_COMPARATOR_MORE_EQUALS :ist mehr als oder gleich
"größer als" (and likewise "kleiner als")
+STR_CONDITIONAL_TRUE_FALSE :Springe zu Befehl {COMMA} wenn {STRING} {STRING}
"{COMMA}, wenn"
+STR_TIMETABLE_AND_TRAVEL_FOR :und fahre {STRING1} lang
{STRINGn} never in translation files, always use {STRING} (the "n" is taken from the matching english.txt string)
+STR_NEWGRF_ERROR_STATIC_GRF_CAUSES_DESYNC :Das Laden von {RAW_STRING} als statische NewGRF mit {RAW_STRING} kann Synchronisationsfehler hervorrufen.
"statisches NewGRF"(?) (you might want to argue that "Graphics Ressource File" -> "die Datei", but that is very far fetched... it didn't work for "Universal Ressource Locator" either... [-> nobody says "der URL"]
+STR_NEWGRF_ERROR_UNEXPECTED_SPRITE :Unerwartetes sprite.
"Sprite"... but i don't know any better translation either ;)
+STR_NEWGRF_BROKEN :{WHITE}NewGRF '{0:RAW_STRING}' wird wahrscheinlich desyncs verursachen und/oder das Spiel abstürzen lassen.
"desyncs" -> "Synchronisationsfehler" (it's already used like this elsewhere)
+STR_LOADGAME_REMOVED_TRAMS :{WHITE}Spiel wurde in einer Version ohne Strassenbahnunterstützung gespeichert. Alle Strassenbahnen wurden entfernt.
Straßenbahn (this is de_DE, not de_CH)
(better search for other occurances of ss->ß)
(multiple times)

i must ask, is non-stop not 'eingedeutscht'?

also - if the warning is not needed anymore, we should get it removed from the original language, rather than just in the translation :-)

Hi Eddi,

Nice work! I've put all your points in there, except those:
Eddi wrote:
Primärindustrien
i don't like this word... is there really no better translation for it? i also never heard the word "Prospektion" before...
How would you translate it?
Eddi wrote:
+STR_NETWORK_LANG_GALICIAN :Galicisch
that hurts my eyes, i'd prefer "Galizisch"
The "c" Seems to be official: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galicische_Sprache
Eddi wrote: also, there is still that unresolved issue about generally renaming the "advanced" signals.
True. What about just calling them "PBS Signale"?
Eddi wrote:
-STR_ORDER_DROP_FULL_LOAD_ALL :Vollladen mit jeder Fracht
+STR_ORDER_DROP_FULL_LOAD_ALL :Volladen jeder Fracht
that's the worst you could have done... "voll beladen"
"Volladen jeder Fracht" fits into the order window's button. "voll beladen mit jeder Fracht" does not fit.

Eddi wrote:
+STR_NEWGRF_ERROR_STATIC_GRF_CAUSES_DESYNC :Das Laden von {RAW_STRING} als statische NewGRF mit {RAW_STRING} kann Synchronisationsfehler hervorrufen.
"statisches NewGRF"(?) (you might want to argue that "Graphics Ressource File" -> "die Datei", but that is very far fetched... it didn't work for "Universal Ressource Locator" either... [-> nobody says "der URL"]
You're right, I corrected that one. What about "{RAW_STRING}" - is that allowed in the german.txt file? Should I rather use "{STRING}"?

Nice work so far, but sometime I didn't like your tone.

Primärindustrien
"Grundstoffindustrie"?

"Industriezweig, der sich mit der Rohstoffgewinnung und -aufbereitung für den Einsatz in der Verarbeitungsindustrie befasst."
http://www.wirtschaftslexikon24.net/d/g ... ustrie.htm

"Grundstoffindustrie"
http://www.dict.cc/german-english/Grund ... strie.html

or

"Rohstoff-Industrie"?

and then

"secondary industry" -> "verarbeitende Industrie", "Verarbeitungsindustrie"

Eddi wrote:+STR_LIVERY_PASSENGER_WAGON_ELECTRIC :Passagierwagen (elektr.)
+STR_LIVERY_PASSENGER_WAGON_MONORAIL :Reisezugwagen (Einsch.)

Yeah, that has been addressed before (technical term vs. popular term). IMO, "Reisezugwagen" would be preferable.

dihedral wrote:i must ask, is non-stop not 'eingedeutscht'?
Yes, but "ohne Halt" is equally correct, sounds even better, and is as short as the other term.

Just my 2cc

but "volladen" is wrong. "vollladen" is at least correct (even though it looks weird)
What about "{RAW_STRING}" - is that allowed in the german.txt file? Should I rather use "{STRING}"?
