A 3D Transport Tycoon-like game, an incomplete version of which was released as "Trains & Trucks Tycoon".

How to make cities grow?

Post by mookee »

It seems sometimes new buildings are appear in towns. But that is rare and buildings are usually small. I've never seen a new skyscraper appear. Small towns limit developing opportunities.
Is it possible to force active growth on cities?
In Locomotion it's possible by the way of creating city transit transports like trams and supply a city with enough goods, but seems that not work in TTT.
Any ideas?

keep transporting passengers and mail to that city, and when the stations accept it, chuck goods in aswell
also, put a local bus service in.
this setup should now have the potential for exponential growth

Thanks, but this forum is about Trains and Trucks Tycoon, not a TTD or Locomotion. It seems there's no mail service in TTT at all.

Cheers

As far as I remember the growth mecahnism was not too different from Simutrans. I remebered you need a large station near the city center to catch as much passengers as possible. The more passenger of a town are transported, the higher the growth.
I like to look at great maps and see how things flow. A little like a finished model railway, but it is evolving and actually never finished. http://www.simutrans.com

Hmm.. in trains and trucks tycoon? I haven't notised any growth.. Do you need to build a station building? Or is it enough with the platform?

The Growth of cities is not completely implemented. This was also on the "todo list" when ubisoft suddenly decided they were going to just release it prematurely.
