TTS is changing names

Post by TBOT » 09 Dec 2003 23:34

Due to a recent discussion between me and Balloz about copyright issues we decided to rename TTS.
A second descision we made is to get rid of every link with TTD, including the use of the original data files (more on that later, probby in my progress report for this week).

Anyways, TTS is renaming, but we don't have a new name. That's why I'm making this post:

Post every serious name suggestion in this thread!

Names that were already suggested:
  • Extreme Transport
    Transport Quest
    OpenTransport
    OpenTycoon
    Transport Empire
    Transit Tycoon
    Magnate
    Enroute
    Deliver & Profit
    OpenExpress

Well, you can't call it Transit Tycoon, because that sounds like a metro-system game. Which wouldn't be a bad idea actually but it would be totally different.

You could just call it TTSD and not have a meaning for the initials stated anywhere. You can't copyright a possible interpretation of an unexplained acronym. Everybody that cared, would know what it meant, but nobody could prove it in court. As if that were likely which it isn't.

Or, Transport Network? That's really what it is if you think about it.

And Transport Empire is the real name of Transport Master *evil*

 Why don't you make a POLL :?:

Anyway, my suggestion is Trains&Co , i.e. Trains and Company.

Why not just Transport Superdeluxe?
That way everybody who knows TTD will think of it as a sucessor but you aren't infringing any rights on the 'transport tycoon' name or 'tycoon' games.
You could keep the TTS/TTSD acronym with the second 'T' representing the final letter of transport - i.e. TransporT SuperDeluxe

Transport (Un)Ltd.

It notices the unlimited gameplay in compare to TTD, the transportation aspect and the company aspect.

I like the idea of using the acronym TTSD without it actually standing for anything. Like INTERCAL - "The Compiler Language With No Pronouncable Acronym" :P
Bugzilla available for use - PM for details.

How about a weird symbol that no one can pronounce? Then people could call it 'The game formally known as TTS'.

I like that idea!

And please don't use Transport Empire, as it will be used for our 3D project.

Goods Master (or is that too goods-focused?)
Rail Master (too train-focused?)
BnR-RnR (Build and Run - Rail and Road) (heh probably lame... maybe only first part?)
Transport Networks Monopoly Master (TN2M/TNMM) (quite long!)
YATTC (Yet Another TT Clone) (leaving what TT means out)

Transport Unlimited is probably the best new name I've heard. Considering it will have darn near everything imaginable, it's a good description.
