I just think we'll get better results, ultimately, if all the effort is on one project, rather than a bunch of competing projects. TTSD offers the most scope for this, I think, so as soon as it is to a point where others can contribute modules, that's what I hope everyone would do.

Blah blah chatter chatter... all these Tycoon games need realism, which is exactly what I'm doing.

realism ?
Nope, don't think so, TTD is nice. I think even a successor made by Chris Sawmill himself wouldn't be more popular than TT(D)...

Are you redesigning TT(D) ? Remember what happened to games that tried to copy ttd and failed....

I have one suggestion for you - do not change whatever is working perfectly in TT(D). Try to implement those things in your game.

That's pretty much what they're doing.
Remaking TTD without station limits, etc.
The basics from the game (and the patch) will remain the same (I think).

Cool! I look forward to TTS!

The other projects that try to imitate TTD, AFAIK, are all the same: Largely unfinished, and closed source. Closed source == has limitations that won't be overcome - you just get back to the same problems as TTD, just different :(. This shows promise. Yeah, it's still unfinished, but the promise of open source means that I won't be stuck with limitations like the others :). Also, the promise of configurability is good also.

The fact that there's a video of a train on a track tells me that the internal engine has already made much progress, and that the authors are paying attention to getting the important things done first, and that the authors are actually determined to finish it.

I hope to contribute to its source code after the source is opened ;). I like TTD, and I like to program ;).

I think the TTSD project is well designed - the core will be programmed as closed-source by a dedicated team, and it will be a clone of original (non-Patched) TTD. When that's finished, the project will become open-source, and anyone can contribute to it, such as the most popular Patch changes, and things we couldn't do with the Patch. That way we get the best of both worlds, I think.

Say, would it be reasonable to move this topic to "Other Projects"? Because that's what it is.

There is no "Other Projects" forum, only a category.

That video was a big Joke!
What's so great about four engines driving thru each other at the track.

You're not a programmer, are you?

No, I'm not.

But why do some stuff for other programmers?
As i think, They make this game for all, not just for programmers?

So there was nothing to see if you are not a programmer. Actually there is nothing to see in sceenies either.

Right time to publish anything is when you got something to show for them who maybe should play the game. They said that programming help is no needed, so who the hell is one who should get anything about these pics and video?
