Need youre graphics-website hosted somewhere?

Post by ThorRune »

By some sereous ass-licking, i have gotten my hands on a 2gb website WITH!!!!! 70gb transfer... And i have nothing to do WITH!!!!! it!

Af anyone want theire graphics-site hosted, i could do just that

You'd get 200mb webspace (Extendable if really needed), mySQL (1 db, you don't need more), PHP (Meaning you could have a forum there), 99% uptime ('least so sais my host), Mail-Accounts and a now and then slow server, though it's gonna be changed (To the better) soon. This is WITH!!!!! posibility of domain-names; if you buy a domain-name you can use it WITH!!!!! this hosting.

Adress would however usually be http://thorrune.sea-host.net/something
Where something can be pretty much anything (No spaces of course, no special caracters, and nothing i already am using, including /TTD/)

The catch? I dunno... You can't p*** me off whitout cosecvences anymore? :P

You can also get hosting here on the forums if you prefer - eg, http://users.tt-forums.net/blahblah/, or even http://blahblah.transporttycoon.net/ if I'm feeling generous. ;)

...for a cost? :P

When my server is done transferring, it'll be on a better one then the forum.

My server is down atm, but i think it's Tom doing the transfer to the new server

What makes your server better than the forums one?

Iimagine the 99% uptime is better, but nothing else stands out. I'm happy with what little I'm doing on Owen's server for what little I've paid for it - good show :)

PS - did I mention I can track your bugs too?
Bugzilla available for use - PM for details.

Sounds reliable! Good work!

I still think that Owens server would be a better place to be, as the forums hardly ever go down at all, and the addy makes a bit more sense re: the subject...

Heh, he's a b**** on forums... (Hope he don't read this)

But otherwise... He's ok... I was hsoted WITH!!!!! Aaron (Adzyboy) and Tom ain't too found of him... So he kinda gave me this gigantic offer to get me of hes server :P

The downidge yesterday was not because he was changing server... It was a schedueled one, 'least he sais so, and the actual server-change wil be over at the end of tis week.

Anyways, what's better then the TT-forum?

Well, 1gb DDR ram server (That could be the reason when this server is slow, meybe), intel xeon 3ghz processor (Makes site-rendering WITH!!!!! PHP wery fast), 120gb HD (2gb of thoce i have), 1.5tb transfer a day (i have 70gb a month of thoce), and the server is entielry dedicated to Sea-Host and Sea-IRC.

Maybe owen could say what the forum has?

Okay, Since we're boasting about our webhosting, Try Ohost, Free, PHP, MySQL, Unlimited traffic, And unlimited space, Address is *somthing*.ohost.de, There are some catches, No files over 800kb, No music or video files (Flash and Midi allowed), And no zip/rar/ace/sit files.

Pretty fast as well

Oh yeah, And http://northlands.ohost.de/, To think I almost forgot

No files over 800kb? That'd kill me! Also, for a graphcs site you NEED rar or zip to fasten the download for people.

Yep, Exactly, I was just yapping on, But as far as free hosts go, Its pretty darn good. I havent run into any problems with it so-far, Actually, Im not so sure about the .zip and .rar rules, Ill have to check the rules (Which are in german :D) again.

Edit:
Okay, They allow archive files, But still not over 800kb.

Oh, And the site has to be in either english, german or french, There was somthing about islamic and spanish pages, But the translator made it hideously non-sensical. :D

THe site as well cant be purely downloads or photo-gallery (Like shirt loads of celebrity phot-sized pics, Teeny pics are allowed) based. It has to be balanced out.

Hehe

German too... That's hard for me to understand... (I roughly get it, but i have to thing about the sentances for minutes)

Edit to the edit:
That's not strange... But zipped grfs often is biger then 800kb

Heheh, Yeah, Its pretty funny clawing through the admi panel trying to activate the database and getting the FTP address, But you get used to it.

And I dont know a scrap of german either :D

Reply to your edit:
Yeah, But for a pure website or forum, Its no problem. Theres also a 2mb cap on MySQL database size, But it says that you can get that lifted if your forum or whatever needs more.

Overall, A pretty good deal.

Ooh, And heres the stats (Eheheh, More boasting :D)

Webhosting Server

» Intel P4 CPU
» 1,5GB DDR
» 120GB HDD
» 1x 100Mbit pro Server

Backbone 12Gbit ->
»Abovenet, Verio
»Level3, Sprint
»UUNet Global Crossing
»ATT, Nlayer, TimeWarner

Yeah, I was just saying to my mum that I cant understand how they manage to keep that type of service up without putting huge banners on everyones site, Hell, I dont get ANY adds, Their main site is littered with adds though, Maybe thats how they do it :?
