If I were to reccomend anything it would be an option to have primary industries spawn on their own. So the "industries" really just become areas where prospectors have found arable land or mineral veins and then you have to build the infrastructure to exploit those resources. For me it would create that blend of creativity and realism so if you could it'd be appreciated.

I skimmed to see if anyone else suggested it and I didn't see anything so sorry if this has been suggested before.

Thank you for your suggestion!

For OTIS we want it to be funded only, really aimed at the eyecandy-players who exactly know where they want to place an industry.
I believe though that Garry is already thinking of a fork that has more industries (so more like a "regular" industryset) and for that your suggestion would be more suitable, as it will have more diversity in the types of industries you may get after the spawning (at the moment its just three: Farms, Mining&Quarries and the WaterBased).

I've got two minor questions/requests I'd like to ask.

Could the name of the "Fishing Grounds & Offshore Industries" be shortened? Since they automatically come with a station and the full name is a bit long. Really just a visual preference thing.

And could Shopping Centres maybe not produce food? Currently they both Accept AND Produce Food, so food trains need to be set to "Do Not Load", otherwise they load full of food on a return trip, too.

Beyond that, don't really have anything else I'd personally say could make things better. This set is pretty good for what it's intended to be used for, it's pretty fun to play around with.

Yep .. Getting ideas together based on OTIS in this forum.

Will start displaying my plans over in my Auztralian Industries (AuzInd) once OTIS is up and running and bugs if any removed.

Cheers

Both good issues, added to suggestions list.

An advice about the name though, just as you can make the industries look different by adding various Objects and/or Stations, you can also make them different by giving the industries an unique name after you funded them.
So for example, if you want to use a waterbased-industry for Oysters, you name it xxx-Oysterfarm. Another could be xxx-Oilrig etc etc.
That way you not only know what kind of refitted vehicles to send to that industry by what it looks like, but also by the name of it.

I know I can rename stations, but you can't rename industries, can you? At least, I can't. And since the station that comes with water-based industry is not owned by anyone, it can't be renamed either. I'd have to build a tiny island in the middle of the ocean and give it a dock in order to make custom-named station for sea-based industry.

 Didnt realise that you indeed cant change names of industries and thus also not the name of the water-station.
The name will be shortened anyway.

Greetings,

1) I started a scene with OTIS and for me it works well so far. I'm having a problem with the size of the Industry Chain window. It opens too big and I can't get to the corner to resize it. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to decrease the size of that window?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is this issue on PC?

I dont think you can change the width of the window, only the length.

So you'll need a wider monitor ;-)

Yes, on the PC. Your answer told me it was something on my end, and I forgot I changed the font size. When I put it down to 11, the display was fine, but that window can't be resized either vertically or horizontally which killed plan B. I have to figure out which font category, small/med/large, that window falls in.
--Edit--
It falls in medium, but tbh, its easier to go through the few industries and figure it out than deal with font sizes.

I have a 27" monitor and never had any complaints.

No worries ;-)
Be aware though that this set is incompatible with a lot of other Industry sets and better used on its own.

Here is what I made using OTIS and objects. Two things I noticed were 1) buses won't carry workers or passengers, 2) no cargo trams and 3) alcohol is not accepted at the residential industry (which is perfect for resorts). The objects were difficult for me because finding what I wanted was tedious and some overlays worked well, and some I'm not sure of.

For road vehicles, I included 2cc buses, 2cc trams(only PAX), 2cc cargo trams and eGVRTs (only cargo).

Here is the lastest save game. I use the JGR patch, the OTIS newgrf from the link in a prior post in this thread.
