Argh, wish I found out about this sooner. But admittedly hadn't really been paying attention what happened in the TTD sphere for a whole year, part of it being a bit burnt out on the game.

Really digging the graphical style of UKRS3, it seems to be the best of both worlds of the traditional pixel style but higher resolution and 32BPP. Even the gaps are a bit of a compromise between TT-style and 'proper' (but I think it looks fine from the screenshots :) ).

Most of the time you will see the trains in the diagonal angles, so I don't think most would even notice if they were correct in the buy menu but slightly off in the game world.

I've put up a poll on my Patreon page about what I should focus on next for UKRS3. If you don't have a patreon account, you can let me know what you think here, too. :)

As I don't have a Patreon account, I dare to reply here.
[+] Spoiler
I think I will vote for wagons, although I only started to experience UKRS3 last night.

Merry Christmas from UKRS3!

It's been a while since the last public update, but a new version has made its way to the ingame content download tonight. As well as a few new locos, the GRF now includes an "era lock" parameter, which will keep the vehicles from a particular era available permanently and not introduce any later vehicles - in other words, if you just want to play with steam engines, you can!

Thank you. :) Happy new year, everyone!

I've just written a verrrrry long blog post summarising my recent updates and outlining a plan for this year. Let me know what you think!

TLDR?

1) UKRS3 full release April 1.
2) TaI32 proper house graphics and initial industry set mid-year.
3) CivilAI now does passenger trains. Better route finding coming soon.
4) Landscape public alpha soon.
5) Av9.8 is getting a rebalance, 32bpp graphics, and a new name.

I've also started working on the cargos for the wagons. Here you can see some steel pipes on both the short bolster and the bogie bolster wagons.

Hi PikkaBird

Just an observation that you probably already know about.

The Timber Wagon is available in the Wood but not Timber. :(

Hi mak,

"Timber" is an odd word which can sometimes mean processed wood and sometimes mean raw wood. In the case of the wagon in UKRS, it's an OTA Timber Wagon which carries raw wood from forestry, rather than processed "timber" products.

I'm not sure which grf has "Timber" as a cargo. Is it GarryG's AuzIndustries? Assuming he's used the existing WDPR "Wood Products" cargo label, there will be vehicles in UKRS which carry the cargo and have appropriate specific graphics.

Hi PikkaBird

Thank you for the reply, I am using Firs 4.0.0 Alpha, having used Firs 3.0.12 previously. Both 'Extreme'

Forest---Sawmill--- Timber Yard

Previously also used UKRS 2, with UKRS 2 community bugfixes and UKRS 2 add on set. this gave a timber/wood wagon refitable to both cargos.

No major problem will just have to adjust my wagon usage. :D

As for Timber being an odd word, I had teacher. many moons ago. that said What started as timber and being useful became wood and useless after I had attempted to make a useful item.

May I take this oppourtunity to thank you for your work, I have nothing but admiration for you and your fellow 'programmers'.

If it takes me a couple of weeks to do each of the 16 aircraft in av9.8, I'll be done some time in the second half of the year. I have started working on the first of the planes and will be releasing preview GRFs on Patreon as I go.

Also, here's an update on the 37s, with some livery variants and the windscreen shape improved - although it's a bit hard to tell with the dark blue CC!
