Would you like to try making your own set of railway tracks for the game?

Much credit goes to Quast65 as he has been putting together a "Railtype Templates in NML".

It where you can go to Fettlers Training School and learn how to make your own per-way.

It can be found in Simuscape at http://www.simuscape.net/simutalk/viewt ... 483#p13483

I be changing all my coding of my tracks so can use what he has done.

Each track you make can have its own design in Tunnels, Fences, Signals, Catenary and Level crossings.

The fences each side of the track are individual which means can have a different design on each side. Also these fences line up a lot better than I see in any other track types.

Cheers all

Slowly making progress with the new Auz Railway Tracks.

Previous tracks sets I replaced the fences with the grass effect because fences didn't line up properly.

But things have changed .. much credit to Quast65 been able to make fences align correctly now.

So I adding the fences again. But when you first add the new Railway Tracks, you can go to parameters and turn the fences off you you prefer not to use them.

We still have a wide ballast effect as shown here:

Not sure how long will take me to have a version for you to test.

Adjustment's to level crossings. Previous settings had vehicles crashing through the barriers or nosing past the flashing lights.

That has almost been fixed.

Vehicles on far stop correct place. Just the other side stop very close to barriers so they glitch and appear to be on the vehicle.

I use path signals a few tiles before level crossings so that they stop traffic before the train gets to the crossing.

Shall see what else I can do ..

In my opinion it looks decent and beautiful. I believe that there should be fences for railway tracks. And it is very good that you have added a setting fences: turn on or off  .

I wish you successful testing and further development of this great set :D .

All bridges look cool. It's a pleasure to use them in the game :)) .

Regards, STD (Aleksey).

I agree .. now they look a lot better and it worth having them again.

The boom gates and flashing lights the adjustments I made look good with Vehicles not sticking their noses so far past the barriers.

But unfortunately can not get a good effect like that with the swing gates as when gates open and go across the track they overlap each other. So still fiddling with these.

What I hope to do before working on the level Crossing any more s to get all the fences done next than I can let you all have a try while I working on some other things with them.

Thanks .. I took the gang off the bridges for now to help the fettler and signal electricians work on the per-way.

Adding different fences to the track sets.

These are 2 fences type I done so fare .. they are the same as in my Auz farm and Fence Object set.
New fences-4.png
New fences-4.png (14.28 KiB) Viewed 4410 times
One more fence I want to add is the security wire fence.

Now I hoping to make 4 sets of main Line Tracks with open speed .. what ever the train set you use will handle any speed.

2 of the tracks will be called City Tracks .. these will have the Wire Mesh fence and the other will have the Wooden fence.

2 tracks will be called Country Tracks and these will have the top black fence and the other will have the 2nd fence from the top.

And I hope to do some other tracks for sidings and branch lines .. these will have a slower speeds to what those tracks would be in real.

And also hope to make a variety of fence type with those as well.

The idea of this is for instance with Main Line tracks .. the track and ballast look will all be the same .. just the fences be different .. by doing this when making a track layout in the country will have the country style fences and when get closer to a town and through a town you can change to a City Track and end up with fences more suitable for the cities and try stop idiots from crossing the railway lines and playing chicken with trains.

Sample of this idea is the bottom track .. far end has the wooden fence and closest end has the country wired type fence.

What you think?

I really like this idea. I fully support all of the above :) .

Protective structures are simply necessary on the railway. And they are needed both within cities and outside them: it is necessary to prevent accidents (people have a habit to move not where it is necessary that to reduce the way of movement to the destination, and it can be wild animals living in forests, meadows and other places).

I'll give examples from my city (it kind of fits the current topic  ): we have adjustable railway crossings and pedestrian crossings, pedestrian bridges over the railway. But people often go around all this. We periodically have cases when trains shoot down people. The driver can not stop a long freight or passenger train, then the person himself must comply with safety rules. And also we have cases when trains are knocked down cars and trucks that violated traffic rules and went to the red light through the railway.

In general, it will be interesting to see the modified set.

Going to be a few days before I get much more done to the track sets .. I'll put a sample of it here if you like to try and get a idea what things could be like and maybe you may als have a suggestion t iprove some of it.

So fare it has the following tracks:

All tracks have the Flashing Lights, Boom Gates and pedestrian crossing except 1.

Introduced in 1800: (Only these 3 have speed restrictions set)

Sidings 20 km/h
Pioneer Lines Paling Fence 60 km/h
Pioneer Lines Wire Fence 60 km/h (this one has gates at the level crossing, and not aligned correctly yet)

1901: (all the following have unlimited speeds)

Country Tracks Paling Fence
Country Tracks Wire Fence

1940:

City Tracks Security Fence
City Tracks Wooden Fence

Catenary Tracks:

1910:

Country Tracks Paling Fence
Country Tracks Wire Fence

1940:

City Tracks Security Fence
City Tracks Wooden Fence

1930: (this one might change to a earlier date)

Subway Tracks (Invisible catenary) .. this track is designed to go in the underground railway network .. by disabling the overheads you won't get them sticking through the fake roofs over the tracks and at stations.

New Tunnel is also included, but as you will see still needs a bit of work to it. Same tunnel at the moment is available for all tracks. I plan to make different tunnels for different tracks.

If you think the dates I have for introduction of tracks could be changed let me know.

Comments appreciated.

A great idea about the availability of railway tracks over the years  .
And I really liked the fences along the tracks. It's beautiful :) .
I also think that the tunnels can be different for each type of ways. This feature is found in the Japanese set.

Been tunnelling.

So that no livestock can fall from the top of the tunnels been putting in some fences around the tunnel portals.

These 4 tracks are from top to bottom.

Pioneer Lines Paling Fence 60 km/h
Pioneer Lines Wire Fence 60 km/h
Country Tracks Paling Fence
Country Tracks Wire Fence

Still have the other tracks to do which might not be for a few days.

Tuesday and Wednesday have other commitments.

Just thought might want to see some of your creations in action. I love the cattle crossing as a waypoint, genius!

Great work on all your sets.

Thank you for the complements.

The cattle crossing has given me another idea for a waypoint .. fettlers working on the lines.

Need to redo the fences on the tunnels.

I don't think fences would go behind the portal brick work. So what other idea I can come up with. Maybe the fences can go just to the portal entrances.

Cheers

Think of some ideas with the fences around the portals .. what I have at moment look good, but they should be hiding behind the brick works as in pic above.

Also looking at idea making the brick work wider so if 2 tunnels are side by side it will look like in tunnel, but with 2 portals .. hope you understand what I mean.

The City Tracks I doing see if can make the tunnels look a bit different with a stone portal instead of brick and make them like the ones you see entering underground rail networks.

Looking at idea making maintenance tracks between the fences and the railway line.

The grey areas to made to look like maintenance tracks.

And might look something like this.

Not sure if use the brown dirt look or maybe a gravel look.

Guess a gravel look will allow the fences to look better.

I changed the dirt roads to gravel and they seem to look a lot better.
GravelTracks-1.png

The problem with these is when we place any waypoints these remove the fences and roads. The fence can be replaced by using the object fences, but the road stays missing.

Slight alignment issue with the object fence with the gate. Will look at re-doing the fences eventually so all will align with each other.

How about object tiles that divert the maintenance path around the waypoint? It could be a bit of a challenge to make the fences disappear between tracks and those, though.

That could be a nice option.

Some Waypoints like fettlers I probable could include the gravel and shouldn't look out of place for those who use it with other track sets.

Will try and see what looks good.

Cheers

EDIT:
I added some gravel to the fettlers Waypoint so it matches up with that on my track sets.

The fence with the gate each side of the fettlers is from the Farm Object set .. see if I can align these a bit better.
