I like what you did with the tower!

About transparent domes/awnings…
I am personally not too sure about that, as its not how it is in reallife…

Thanks for compliment. Marvellous what the difference between a few pixels can do.
Quast65 wrote:About transparent domes/awnings…I am personally not too sure about that, as its not how it is in reallife…
True and my main objective make as realistic as possible.

The benefit of the see through domes is making sure all lines up properly during test phase.

Just need decide if I leave them in when all is finished.

Notices a few things of interest when in Sydney . the railing around the top of the buildings the inner rail on all the buildings except the lat part of the east and west wings no not have that fancy brick/stone work around the top.

Only the street views have the nice railing and around the end sections.

Been a long day so I retire early tonight and look at it all fresh tomorrow.

Cheers

Update to where I am up t with Sydney Railway Station.
Sydney Station Under Construction5.png
Sydney Station Under Construction5.png (94.4 KiB) Viewed 4964 times
New additions:

* Changed platform surface .. before it look to much like gravel so hope looks more like tile surface.

* Changed the shading to the awnings to match the dome. If you can view this station on Google Earth will see the awnings are almost a white.

* The terminal part of the platforms added fences and adjusted the awnings.

* South-East corner - made sections for Platforms 11 to 15

* The awning terminal end Platforms 9 and 10 looks a bit weird, but that is how it is in real. It is higher than the main awnings and has some transparency sections. Under this awning is stairs leading down to a pedestrian subway that goes under platforms 11 to 15 and had stairs going back up to access to Platforms 16 to 23 and access to the underground platforms 24 and 25.

* Platform awnings for 2, 4, 6 and 8 you might notice slightly out of alignment by 2 pixels .. please ignore .. I have fixed it in main graphics, just forgot to change these in this display.

What still to be done:

* North-West .. Platforms 1, 2 and 3 .. the awnings I have used was the type in use when station first build in 1901 .. these platforms used to be same length as platforms 4 to 10. Later these 3 platforms were made longer to fit trains like the Southern Aurora, Spirit of Progress, Brisbane Limited and the Indian Pacific trains. The awnings were also changed so they slopped inwards (opposite to what shown here) .. So will probably make a modern set of awnings for these platforms as well.

* At far end of platforms 4 to 15 have stairs down to another pedestrian subway that also has access to Platforms 4 to 25.

* Terminal end of Platforms 12 to 15 is another building I yet to make.

* North-West side - Platform 1 is a very long platform .. more buildings to be add including a parcel office and 4 parcel dock platforms.

* North-East buildings - behind these to add a tram terminal.

* South-East buildings - the concourse to be widened and add access to the tram section.

That will do for now.

Cheers all

Thanks pal,

The platforms and station tiles I making you be able to make the platforms as long as you like.

In real they are:

Platform 1 = 370m (Hold 16 carriages)
Platform 2 & 3 = 320 m (Hold 14 carriages)
Platforms 4 to 10 = between 207 and 213 m (Hold 10 carriages)
Platforms 11 to 14 = 180 m (Hold 8 carriages)
Platform 15 = 160. (Hold 8 carriages)
Platforms 16 to 23 = 160 m. (Hold 8 carriages)

Getting so much better all the time ....

All the buildings had t be lowered by 4 pixels and alterations to the platform awnings to make them fit that much nicer.

This image of the platforms with just a few dome roofs. Made this mainly for my personal use to see what need doing and if it will fit.

Stair ways at end of platforms 4 to 15 .. need to make a roof to go over them top of these.

Yet to make some buildings to go at far end South-West end) of platforms 2 to 15. These buildings used to have ramps going underground and a subway to the parcels office.

Still got a building to make to go terminus end of platforms 12 to 15. If all goes well hope have these finished by end of this week and coded to test them properly.

Once these are working properly will do other angles.

Platforms 1 to 10 had 3 tracks between the platforms .. would like to make extra tiles so these can be added if like. Especially those who like the "[patch] Realistic Train Shunting" set.

Be great when Southern Aurora arrives Platform 1 from Melbourne. Detach the 2 locos and run around the train then take the carriages to the carriage sheds for cleaning. :P

Working on the South East direction now.

The really long single story buildings going to be interesting to try finish. The ones without the footpaths actually are 3 story buildings, but the other 2 floors are below these. It where all the parcels, mail and refreshments for train dining cars arrived at.

Still got some work to do for both directions that but want to see what I done so far in a game.

Hope tomorrow get the platforms done for this direction and maybe Friday code it. Can't do Thursday as be busy train travelling.

Wow, and to think, here's what you had to say two years and two days ago. ;)
GarryG wrote:Thanks fellas for you compliments. Still a lot to add and to learn .. I just keep adding with what I learnt so far. Had a look at Sydney terminal and decided to make some awnings like what is at that station. Some over stations have awnings very similar. The station buildings and concourse belong to the Dutch Station Sets .. Whether I can be successful making all the buildings associated with Sydney .. time will tell. Sydney used to have the Asphalt platform surface many moons ago .. but now it has a sandstone look brick tile type surface .. so will do a set of platforms as close as I can to that type of surface as well.

You could have told me before I coded the buildings and concourse areas

Because I always remember the things I don't forget

Like I told my doctor today .. I always take my medication when I remember.

If all goes well with have a sample available here to try in within the next few hours.

But roof shading me wrong with SE directions for .. I relied on the light in my room and forgot it don't face same direction as the sun does.

Here the first working part of Sydney Station. Only the buildings and the concourse area done so far.

Need to re-shade the roof and the awnings eventually.

I used normal platforms s I could get idea what future platform pieces I need to make.

If you like to test it see what you can achieve.

The building designed to mix and match or use in any combination you like.

These are all non track tiles so far 1x1 and 2x1 tile sizes.

I've called it AuzNSWStationsNorthernDivision. I intend to add other stations that can be found between Sydney and Newcastle and stations north of.

Thanks all for your compliments.

Still some tweaking to do to these.

Hope to had some elements to roof area using what Luxtram sent me some time ago and put some chimneys on the top.

Was going to go train riding and photographing today but bit too cold here with winter coming on.

Here where I am up to now.
Central Under Construction_3.png
Central Under Construction_3.png (172.65 KiB) Viewed 4434 times
This morning with the sun shinning made it easier to do the shading on the roofs.

I hope to do the roof the old style by putting in chimneys and air vents. Not sure yet if to also add some air-cons on the roof.

There are 2 sets of buffer stops ..one set for no-electrified and one for electrified.

Sydney was build in 1901 (on top of a cemetery .. all bodies was suppose to have been removed, but with excavation work being done now they found a few they did not remove back in 1901) before the overhead electrified rail.

Tomorrow hope start on the platforms.

On the ends of the platforms were these buildings .. these had ramps down to a subway where parcels and mail was transferred between the trains and Parcels Office. So hope to make some of these as well.

Here the game file if like to try .. if you have a saved game from previous version is most like will cause a problem as I needed to change ID numbers as add two more buildings for the North Wing.

Been doing a bit of research to see when the platforms were tiled. and looks like it was in 1980.

Also found out Platforms 1, 2 and 3 was extended as and roof changed in 1962.

So wondering if the first platforms I make should be bitumen as I think that would have been the previous platform surface.

But before I start on the platforms will do some more research over the weekend to find out for sure what the original platform surface was.

The high awning at end of Platforms 9 and 10 is also new .. before the 1980s there was no roof over this section.

Will still make the tile set of platforms, but after I do the older version first.

Also found out today that the work that is being done with Platforms 12 to 15 they are putting in some more underground platforms.

Having a few problems with my graphics editor lately. It been coming up with a message "not responding" and closing on me .. so might have failed to save the work that I did .. and yesterday when trying to do the platforms it would start getting slower and slower and take ages just to select a image.

I have a feeling the program is corrupted and will need to uninstall it completely and reinstall it again.

It is a great story. Back in the 1930s there was some underground subways built under Sydney and never used.

The Mortuary station would be interesting to make .. should we add Coffins as a cargo?

When I finish all 4 directions to Sydney .. hope to finish off Newcastle (only did street view so far) and do some major stations like Cootamundra, Junee, Maitland and others that had lovely buildings.
