A lot of this stuff is turning in to what James and I once had planned for a British Modular Station set. Good work sir and very neatly drawn too.

I'll start work on the extra buffer stops and if room left in Part 2 make a few more station buildings.

Did you and James do any work to this set? Aussie Stations originally designed from British Stations .. so if you have any done, they could add to these I doing if you like.

Done some more buffers for different platforms and also Crushed Ballast Buffer.
Buffer3.png

Can be seen at end of the line in this pic. These where often seen at country terminus stations and in some shunting yards. They where the early version of shock absorber buffers.

At terminus stations there wasn't a lot of room between the points and the buffer. Normally only enough room for 1 or 2 locos. If driver misjudged and his these buffers no damage would be done to the loco as the ballast world absorb the impact.

Here's copy of game file where I am up to at the moment.

The Cobar Station and the extra Buffer Stops have been added to it.

So its just a pile of ballast at the end of the track? I imagine there would still be some minor damage if one ran into it at a moderate speed, mostly cosmetic. Of course I dont think anyone would purposely run full speed into any kind of stop. Good luck stopping a 100+ ton steam or diesel locomotive with just some welded rail pieces or a pile of gravel.

Yep. True if train did hit buffers are to high of a speed something will get damaged, especially the drivers pay packet as probably lose his job. :)
GarryG wrote:Done some more buffers for different platforms and also Crushed Ballast Buffer.
Sorry, but the station sets will not be available for Bananas this weekend as going to change a few things and add a few more stations.

Changes I be making:

* Going to see if can change the colours bit to this buffer stop. These where made of railway line as post with either sleepers or bridging timber for the 3 sided box and filled with crushed ballast or other types of gravel. So the rails and timber stands out a bit better, I see if can change the colours a bit.

* Cobar Station because of the doors on the ends of buildings, need to make this station 4 tiles long and not 3 so that there can be a path way from those doors.

* The stations I already done, Paterson, Mindaribba, Craven and a few others, intend to join these as 2x1 and 3x1 tiles. This will free up some IDs and allow me to add a few more railway stations. Paterson for instance if make it a 3x1 tile I can add the water tank to one end and signal box other end. Mindaribba was only a small station, so will make this a 2x1 with station sign in middle. All be needed then be 2 platforms and the ramps each end.

* Non-Track tiles .. changing a few of these .. the ones that are all grass, going to remove the grass from ground level so they can be used better with those that have the gravel at ground level.

So back to the drawing board and start working on these.

Cheers

Here's a pic of the buffer stops and non-track tiles.
buffers4.png

I changed the colouring of the Buffer Stops with Crushed Ballast .. I got some gravel delivered from FIRS 1.4.3 quarries and made the railway line posts rusty looking.

Quast65 been giving me some great ideas. I removed some of the lawn from all grass non-track tiles so it will show at ground level what ever Landscape your using. I'm using the xUSSR Set. Static Objects as the green is more to what you would see in Australia. Only in towns does it stay green all year round.

The set with the grey gravel look still available. Suggested to me to make some corner grass too and they look really good. I think be also good if I change the length of all platform ramps to same length as the grass section on these corner pieces so they line up with each other.

Looking at the platforms with the awnings given me some ideas. I think be nice if the city platform sets had the those types of awnings extended doen to the buffers and probable behind the buffers too. I think could also look good the platform behind the buffers was twice as wide and make it same width as Island Platforms.

Looks like I got some work to do for a few days or more.

Cheers

Started to join some of the stations I did earlier to make them 2x1 and 3x1 tiles instead of single tiles.

These 2 are Mindaribba and Paterson.

Paterson.png
Paterson.png (4.87 KiB) Viewed 5927 times
Mindaribba is completed and been added to file.

Paterson work still in progress .. hence why the platform is there .. I use those to line buildings up properly.

I not real sure if Paterson original colour was green .. I know it wasn't the creamy yellowish colour. The photo I seen of Paterson from the 1930s or 1940s is in black and white and the walls of the station are a fairly dark grey. If any one does know what the original colour was, please let me know and I will change it.

Finish Mindaribba and Paterson Stations.

Both these country stations are part of the Newcastle Suburban network .. located on the North Coast Line between Maitland and Dungog. The line is a single track with crossing loops at both these locations.

Been experimenting with awnings and buffers and come up with this idea.

Only available for the city platforms as I do not have enough room in Part 2 for many more. Got room only for 5 more things which I hope to make some grass non-track tiles to go with the stations ramps .. this will take up 2 of these. Then what left hope to add some more stations. Still got a few stations to join and make them 2x1 and 3x1 tiles. This will free up a few more IDs.
buffers5.png
buffers5.png (44.41 KiB) Viewed 5856 times
I've redone the brick work to the platform edges making them a bit neater

For buildings to go on the terminal ends best to use from other station sets. Eventually I will make some terminal and city station buildings and hope to add them to the Fantasy Station set.

I also made some buffer stops with concourse at the ends .. end platforms are same width as island platforms.

If want to try here both Auzstations Parts 1 and 2 zipped up together.

Concept of these Station and Platforms sets.
===========================================

There are several types of platforms. Basically representing what was available in the 1800s through to what seen on platforms today.

Gravel .. used on the first platforms in the 1800 and some smaller country stations still have gravel surfaces today.

Bitumen .. not sure yet what year this started. It was introduced to stop dirt and stones being walked into passenger carriages and into buildings.

First they only laid bitumen half the width of platforms except in front of buildings where bitumen was laid the full width of platforms.

Some country platforms still have the half bitumen and half Gravel. Dungog is one such station.

City Stations have bitumen covering all the platforms because these stations are a lot busier.

Concrete .. I did not make any concrete platforms as these are available in other sets such as the Dutch Station Set, the Hungarian Stations, and the Japan Set3:Stations to name a few.

Tiled .. Introduced on City Stations in the 1990s.

White painted lines ..The white lining of platform edges originally was introduced during World War 2 so passengers could determine the platform edge during the Blackout period. Not sure when started to use more frequent and as a safety issue, but seems like the 1970s.

Enjoy these samples.

Question for you all.

In the station sets, I turned off stanchions when the catenary passes through stations. It does not show the stanchions along platform edges as can be seen in this pic.
no staunchions.png
no staunchions.png (17.53 KiB) Viewed 5821 times
Do you like having the stanchions turn off like this or would you prefer them turned on?

The Dutch platforms have these turn on.
no staunchions2.png
no staunchions2.png (10.95 KiB) Viewed 5821 times
I first turned them off for the awnings as looked terrible poles sticking up through the awnings, then I turned them off for all platforms.

I will leave them turn off for platforms unless several disagree.

The Catenary are from Qatenary set, the platforms with stanchions is from the Dutch set and the tracks are from NuTracks.

I put a vote up top so players can have a say about the Stanchions.

Do I leave them as I have them now .. no stanchions show along the platform edges?

Or do I change the code so the stanchions to show along the platform edges.

I will leave the awnings as they and buildings as they are so no stanchions show.

On another note .. I upgraded Cobar Station.
It comes in 2 sections. Main big building is a 3x1 tile and the small building on its lonesome is a 1x1 building. You can choose if use together or separately.

I already added the awnings because the awnings on platforms I made before are either to short or to long.

I think the difference with poles at the platforms is just whether you aim for technically correct, or you aim for being beautiful. Given your other work in stations (which I think looks really really great) and other sets from you, I'd say go for beautiful, it makes things more coherent.

Thanks Alberth .. that is a good way to put it. I think they can stay.

Looks like there will be a Part 3 in the set as some ideas I like to make not enough room in other 2 parts.
Been experimenting with awnings and buffers and come up with this idea.
Basically all my work is based on country stations and no country stations in my State of New South Wales has catenary, so when I test anything I often forget to test with catenary too.

I didn't test at first with the Terminal Awnings and Quast65 did that for me and between the two of us have come up with some more ideas.

The overhead wires extend over these awnings .. so how to fix this. With Quast65 help that I am working on now and will be in Part 3.

Might be creating a new Rail Station Selection specially for Catenary use.
Electrified Buffers2.png

There one section of track that allows Stanchions. It is to be placed directly with the Terminal Awning that also has a buffer.

Rest of the platforms do not have stanchions.

Hope can see what I mean in pic and that I can explain it properly. (Some of you fellas from non-English speaking countries type better English then me :D and I was born in Aussie land).

Only problem will be depending where you start building the station because the Stanchion all build in same tile and if place one tile in wrong place .. you get 2 stanchions showing on the section that allows Stanchions.

In part 2 there are some stations as 2x1 and 3x1 tiles as close as possible to how they are or was in real and there are a few separate pieces that can used singly or join them how you wish.

I've ran out of room in Part 2 now and not able to add any more. Theres just a few parts to fix in Part 1 and Part 2 and they I hope) be release end of this week.

Now in the process starting Part 3.

Sample attached. What in Part 3 so far are designed for overhead wires.

I should have ample room in Part 3 to add more single station buildings so as you mentioned, players can design their own stations. I originally had single pieces of Paterson station and Craven. Will re-make the single pieces and add them to Part 3
