Adding Livestock Platforms and non-track tiles.
Livestock.png

Will be making some non-track tiles with animals too.

When these platform sets are finished .. will make changes to AuzInd and object sets and remove the livestock Loading platforms so that these Platform ones will line up with them instead.

Added two more stations to Part 2.
Paterson and Binalong.png
Paterson and Binalong.png (19.25 KiB) Viewed 7507 times
An Island Station based on a station called Binalong .. located on the Southern Line in NSW, Australia, between Goulburn and Cootamundra.

The other is a country station called Paterson .. I chose this one as there are other stations in NSW based on same design. Paterson in on the North Coast Line between Maitland and Dungog.

The stations I have done pretty well cover the main country ones. Just a matter of changing there colours. Majority of terminal country stations look a lot like the Grenfell station .. the other 2 will cover majority of smaller country stations

Any one like to play with these will add test copies here for you to try. Both Parts 1 and Part 2 in same file. Read the Changelog file see what they include.

EDIT: Has any one got photos of any terminal stations in Australia showing the buffer stops? When I start making buffer stops like to do close as can to what they used to look like. Some places I seen had pile sleepers at end of track, some had a pile of gravel. These I hope to make.

Re: Australian Railway Stations

Post by GarryG »

Going to make some changes to the awnings and possible to some of the stations. I've introduced half awnings that cover only half the platform as I seen at many country stations in Australia.

The awnings basically designed to go with a station building but some places they extend past the buildings and there for need support posts.

Adding the support posts they block windows and doors on some stations, so be changing all awnings from 6 support posts to 4 posts and change the windows and doors on some stations where they are covered by the posts.

Hope have the changes done in a few days or so.

Cheers

Going to change the Low Platforms to 1 pixel higher so they line up with all over platforms and can then be used with all station buildings and non-track tiles.

Nearly all country platforms in NSW Australia were low, but for game play and to allow a better variety of use I think changing them will be a lot better.

Hope you all agree.

Cheers

Changed the lower platforms so that all the platforms are now all same height and all station buildings can be built with any platform.

Changed the lower platform buildings so they can be used with all platform types.

There been some new buildings and non-track tiles added and some re-built.

To the far right .. another project I looking at .. if you use McZapkie's Wired set .. seeing if can make some special buildings and stations to work with that set. If I can get idea working good it will be a separate newgrf file.

The NewGRF files for the 2 auzstation sets here if like to see what been done.

The one on right is original .. but has a clean new paint look.
Other 2 darker look so one of these might be a better option.

Any suggestions?

Here's the next test issues of AuzStations Part 1 & 2 and also a copy of AuzWiredStations for those who use McZapkie's Wired: telecomunication wires and fast information carriers.

All 3 are zipped up together.

Some of the changes:

AuzStations Part 1: Employed some clearers to remove some of the rust from the roofs of some of the awnings. Still some rust there, but not as much as before. Looks a wee bit better.

AuzStations Part 2:

Added:
Some horses with non-track tiles for those who start using trains before cars became available. Horses breed by McZapkie in his Polroads set. Like to make a set later with old style cars like the Model T-Ford and some old trucks.
Small station building and staff hut based on the station called Mindaribba located on the North Coast line in NSW, Australia. Has a few giant grass hopers behind the waiting room.
Stock Siding and livestock yards. These will also line up with the ones found in AuzObjects_Rail and the AuzInd sets.

AuzWiredStations only has a Staff Hut at the moment to test my idea. It is being designed to use with Wired: telecomunication wires and fast information carriers. Hope to add more stations and platforms to this at a later date. Like add things like Telegraph Office, Post Office, Signal Boxes and some other railway Station buildings.

Enjoy ..

Thanks pal,

If you or any one else interested I made templates of roofs of different colours that I been using.

Did a rusty red roof template yesterday, but haven't used it yet.

Added a few more platforms, stations and non-track tiles.
BrickStations.png
BrickStations.png (17.87 KiB) Viewed 7079 times
These brick stations based on a station called Kendall located on the NSW North Coast Line in Australia. Difference being Kendall in real is weatherboard, but sort we need some brick stations.
They have the rust red roof and can choose from a full awning or a half awning.

Also made some Parking Lots with Hedge fencing.

Another change I made if moved the Livestock yards to AuzStations: Freight Buildings. Try and keep all Freight buildings and infrastructure together.

Like to also make some larger Parcel Offices and smaller Goods Sheds.

Here the update to Part 2.

Cheers

Looking at moving the car parks that are in the AuzObjects_Rail set to the Station sets.
This is a sample. Have a few glitches with the loco at the platform, but I be able to fix that in the coming days.
Car Parks.png
Car Parks.png (13.83 KiB) Viewed 7020 times
Once I master these car parks above the stations will look at shops and other ideas.

This will need to be a separate Station set due to the there be a variety of car parks with and without cars.

I was never able to fix the glitches with the overlap car parks in the object sets, so I intend to remove the overlaps and just make those in object sets as normal tiles and hope they will match up with the ones I do in station sets.

Car Parks2.png
Car Parks2.png (28.12 KiB) Viewed 6964 times
Only single sided platforms are available, but with these you can make island platforms as well. Sorry no normal platforms available.

Haven't added any cars and the on/off ramps yet. Will do the ramps next then add stairs and lifts and later cars.

I've called it thanks to suggestion from Quast65 Auz Fantasy Stations.

If like to try what I done so far copy of the newgrf available here.

Could you draw those car park platforms a little shorter, so that if you were to have raised land around them that the top of the pavement would meet the ground tile?

You might have a good idea here .. If I lower them so same height as bridges in game they might look good. Will give it a try in coming days.

Quast65 has given me some more lessons this morning on coding .. this will keep me busy for a day or so. When I finish this lot of lessons hope to be able to make the 2 AuzStations sets available for Bananas some time next week.

Great work on these stations Garry.

For the ramps to the car parks, they look very steep! It would be horrible to draw but you could try these types of ramps?

Would the idea then be that you can connect an actual road that runs over the raised land to those parkingplatforms?
If so, you cant build the T-crossing (or an X-crossing for that matter) towards that ;-)

So I dont think it is necessary to alter the design for that (I personally like them at the hight they have right now, but that is a matter of taste ;-) )
Furthermore, RVs cant enter those parkingtiles anyway, so a nicely designed ramp (that connects nicely to the parkingplatforms as well as to actual roads) will suffice.
If I lower them so same height as bridges in game they might look good.
Yes, but you could also design a parkingplatformtile with a short ramp going down to the hight of a bridge, that way you can keep the platforms at the current hight.
Will only work with certain bridgetypes though (mostly some that are in the Total Bridge Replacement set) and only towards certain directions (as they need to overlap the bridge-railings).
For the ramps to the car parks, they look very steep!
True, however I just gave Garry code- and graphics-templates for 2x1 and 3x1 stationtiles. those will give enough room for lesser steep ramps.
It would be horrible to draw but you could try these types of ramps?
That is indeed a design that would work in a single tile, but indeed very hard to draw....

No, but other objects, house sets, industry tiles could be aligned on the same level as the pavement. This would allow the station to blend in seamlessly and provide a nice landscape.

You might remember the Montreal Gare Central from the old Canadian Stations set.

I like them as well. I'm not advocating one over the other.
