I keep switching back and forwards to different projects with these sets doing here.

Added some Bags of Wheat. Before silos were invented check this website of bags of wheat being delivered by horse and wagons at Forbes Railway station in New South Wales, Australia.
http://www.hanovale.com.au/cwhistory/forbes1916a.html

This is my translation of the pics from that website.

The darker ones are covered with tarpaulins, then the lighter is uncovered.

The horse and wagons courtesy of McZapkie's Polroads.

Oh, I skip reading your thread for a while due to busy RL, and when I return, I find such lickable Dora Creek Station pixels! Wow Garry!

I confused your bags of wheat with a hay-stack, in particular the rectangular hay bales https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baler#Lar ... ular_baler
I guess it's just what you're used to seeing in the field :)

My first thought was "wood/planks". But looking at the real pictures that's pretty accurate, so it might be just me. Or perhaps a size issue, and I'm not sure anything can be done about that.

Less squarely stacked bags could work, have some standing against the stack, or lying around on a pile nearby?

Out of interest why did you release the new version as a seperate grf instead of just updating the existing version?

Thanks fellas for your comments .. appreciated.
Leanden wrote:Out of interest why did you release the new version as a seperate grf instead of just updating the existing version?
I had to change some IDs and thought it might have conflicted with saved games if I didn't change the version number.

Next version I looking at changing the brick platform edges to the dirtier brick image I shown previous page.

Also looking at doing something similar to what the ISR: Fixtures have done with single sided platforms by putting ballast on other side of track where there is no platforms.
Leanden wrote:Out of interest why did you release the new version as a seperate grf instead of just updating the existing version?
I like this idea too .. will experiment and see what can be done. Be good with a few types.
Leanden wrote:Out of interest why did you release the new version as a seperate grf instead of just updating the existing version?
They could be mistaken for different cargos which some players might make use of. These suppose to be wheat, but maybe could be used for Hay and Timber as well?

I hoping to add items to the stations so be suitable for games starting in the 1800s. Player can start using these wheat bales until early 1900s and replace by Silos and storage sheds later.

Made some bullock teams and wheat stacked in sheds .. at moment I used the old Hay sheds :) Whether I use these are make something different. The website shortcut I included previously can sww the shed I trying to make in those. If find parkes will see a empty shed there as well. I thought when I first made they would have side walls, but they do not, so will remove the side walls soon.

Cheers all

I've altered the graphics to the Wheat Bag stacks so hopefully look not so smooth. Also added some sheds to store the wheat bags in.

Try this and see what you thing.

Also been playing around with rail tracks with wide ballast. Calling it AuzTracks.

Much credit goes to the makers of NuTracks as I been practicing using their rail set.

Only been playing around with 2 track sets from NuTracks so far. The two slow sets.

Very Slow Set making it the rusty track for sidings .. the 1st and 3rd tracks and bridges from the left that has no fences. Probably remove the lighter ballast from under these since these are for sidings and should only be ballast dust and covering the sleepers. Have a speed of 20 km/ph.

The other 2 tracks are the Slow Track set and these I hope to make as Branch Lines. Not as rusty as the siding ones and has fences from my AuzObjectFence set. This will have a speed of 60.

I almost had these 2 sets finished and lost it before I could save because of a power blackout. Shame I can't swear here .. but I think you can imagine what I might have said.

The bridge is something I been working on with Wallyweb.

Tell you more later and hope to also start a new forum next day or so called AuzTracks.

Hi Garry

I have just started a game with all your GRFs loaded. I hadn't realised just how much stuff you'd actually drawn there are 100's of Sprites! Lots of really good stuff you can see some in use in the attached screen shot

One of my favourites are the rocks and embankments. there are some merging tiles for these (to merge the stones seamlessly with the background terrain) but no corner merging pieces. If you ever re-visit these some corner merges would be a nice touch

Thanks

Bob

Thanks Bob for your complements and suggestions.

Appreciate people telling me about the work I did and suggestions on improvements and some times thing I forgot to do.

There are quite a few things I like to change and add to the object sets and other sets since I learnt how to do stations and now learning making rail tracks.

Like to re-do some of the object sets and Industries to match up with the stations.

Cheers pal.

Hi all,

I been a bit quite for a while as been on vacation for a month travelling around the country side.

Enjoyed train travel from Broadmeadow (near Newcastle) to Moree in the North-West of New South Wales, not far from the Queensland border. From there continued north by car and bus to Kingaroy in Queensland.

Had window seat on train both directions so took heaps of pic and video clips which hope to use these for future projects.

Like to try and make some grain storage platforms and stations similar to these photos.

Not sure when will start on them, but hope within the next few days, as have some house work to catch up on after being away.

See if I can add my journey to the last train journey post.

Cheers all.

All you into Football, especially the NRL in Australia.

I've designed a spreadsheet for the 2018 games that start in March next year.

If like to have a look and comment on it be appreciated, especially if you have ideas for improvments or might find a mistake I missed.

All sheets are protected where data and formula's are entered. But there is no passwords, so if want to unprotect them and make your own changes your welcome to do so.

Not sure if this suitable for other Football or sporting events, but your welcome to use if suitable.

EDIT:
I added to these spreadsheet .. it now has room for 100 players in tipping competition.

Been going through the video clips and photos I took of my trip to Moree and Kingaroy.

Hope to use much of these to change and improve the graphics in what I already done and add new stuff when finish the improvements.

The loading bank, wool dumps and goods platforms are looking for a face lift. Photo I took of the loading bank and wool dump at Narrabri gave me a template to change what I had previously done.
GoodsPlatforms.png
GoodsPlatforms.png (26.57 KiB) Viewed 3300 times
And come up with this:
Goods loading banks and platforms.png
Goods loading banks and platforms.png (7.19 KiB) Viewed 3300 times
The one on far left is previous banks and dump .. the one to the right of this is the new design.

The other 2 are goods platforms. When Looking at photos of good sheds with the woodplatforms they wasn't as dark as the 1st one and many had brick supports. So using that design I come up with the one on right with brick supports and weather timber platform.

Will make these changes as soon as I am satisfied with the new designs.

Cheers

I've changed graphic details to the Loading Bank, Wool Dump and Goods Platforms in the AuzFreightStation.

I think the Goods Platforms look more weathered and used being the lighter grey.

Wooo, one month vacation has enough material to keep you busy for years! :D
(And fun you can travel for a month, in Holland you can travel from one end of the country to the other end in less than a day, No way you could spend a month travelling on never seen rail tracks :) )

I like how you show your new finds. The grain silo is much nicer than all the single silos we tend to have in the game now, I would think it fits a FIRS grain mill to have one of those (will have to wait until Andy is done playing with tanks). Grain storage just plain on the floor with a sheet of plastic for cover makes a lot of sense too, at least in a warm climate like Australia.

If you add vertical lines at the side of the raised part of the good platform, wouldn't that improve the visual form?

I find the front roof of the shed a bit long, it took me a while to understand the roof doesn't end resting on the goods platform. If you make the front red roof shorter, some of the vertical wall of the shed becomes visible, giving a stronger indication that the roof is indeed a roof. I also had expected a darker-red line at the dark side of the roof, much like the front side, but I may be thinking too symmetrical.

The Jig crane is a beauty, just like you expect them to be, all rusty, and very simple. Would love a couple in the CHIPS station set :)

I have no clue about Football though, can't say anything useful about your spread sheet. Simplest solution is perhaps just use it. If things are missing, you'll find out.

Thanks Alberth for your feed back.
Wooo, one month vacation has enough material to keep you busy for years!
Seen lots to add to my projects in that time .. bit of a bugga at Gunnedah during my journey as yard full of coal trains and wheat trains so never seen some things I wanted too there.
The grain silo is much nicer than all the single silos we tend to have in the game now, I would think it fits a FIRS grain mill to have one of those
Hope start work on these soon as I get a few other jobs done .. Andy if he wants a copy of what photos I have of the different grain storage happy to send them to him. (With luck he might draw them for me and we both can use :) )
I find the front roof of the shed a bit long, it took me a while to understand the roof doesn't end resting on the goods platform
Funny you mentioned that .. you picked up on something I never noticed .. what photos I seen of good shed awnings they only cover about half the platform so I will fix these.

Also noticed the awnings on most station platforms here in my country don't go all the way to platform edge.
The Jig crane is a beauty, just like you expect them to be, all rusty, and very simple. Would love a couple in the CHIPS station set :)
Thanks will make a few for game .. see if can have them done by the weekend. CHIPS welcome to use them too.
I have no clue about Football though, can't say anything useful about your spread sheet. Simplest solution is perhaps just use it. If things are missing, you'll find out.
That's ok main reason I put here for any Aussies might like .. and just maybe it can be used for other sporting events .. people more then welcome to use and change it to suit how they wish.

Time to go to dream world here (bed).

Cheers

Here the Jib Crane and some changes to Goods Shed and Wooden Platforms.

There are 3 lots of Jib Cranes as can be seen in pic. On the platform, ground level, and on raised slab.

Goods sheds improved graphics and same with Wooden Platforms.

You will find the Jib Cranes in the section: AuzFreight:Freight Buildings.
