Made a few platforms for the Sydney station.

Progress to date.

Platforms almost finished. Mostly work still needed with those I adding the overhead pylons and beams to.

I placed these at far end of the platform so they will align with my AuzRailSet overheads.

I think it time for me to have a break for a few days from coding .. either that or only do the drawing of a day time when the sun is shinning so I can get the roof shading right :roll:

(I had a set of templates specially made .. first I did ne direction and saved it. Then I flipped them so have both directions and saved. Than I did the shading the correct way and saved, but for some reason this last save didn't save correctly cause when I went back to it today the shading was still wrong and not notice it till after I tested in game .. what a bumma .. tomorrow hope to fix them).

Sydney has 3 tracks between the Platforms 1 to 10 so looking at being able to do the same.

Also found out today that prior to 1962, platforms 9 and 10 were same length as platforms 1 to 8. I got some research today as wonder about Platforms 11 to 15 as well if they might have been shortened a bit too.

Added the following this evening:

I added a tile so can make the buffer stops wider to allow extra tracks between platforms if wish.

Adding overlap platforms (you can tell which ones these are as they are the ones closes to the buffers with roof shading is wrong way around). Got the subway stairs wrong too.

These over laps allow switches at stations. When you add the overlap platform, best to hold down your ctrl key and this option gives you the choice of giving it the same name as the main station or can give the platform another name like Sydney Platform 1, Sydney Platform 2, Sydney Platform 3, etc.

Also hoping it will work great with "[patch] Realistic Train Shunting" set.

If like to test here the file, buy remember the shading is wrong on some roofs.

Still fiddling around with the Sydney Station.

Still trying to include the middle run around loop between platforms.

The overlaps with the pylons and cross beams need some tweaking at the junctions.

The pylons and cross beams for the catenary is being designed to use with my AuzRailSet. Not sure if these will look ok with other catenary sets.

Fixed some roofs that had incorrect shading.

Also changed the menu selection as there was so many platform pieces

We now have:
AuzStations: Sydney Station Non Track
AuzStations: Sydney Buffers
AuzStations: Normal Platforms
AuzStations: Island Platform
AuzStations: Single Sided Platform
AuzStations: Overlap Platforms
AuzStations: Extras (Has ballast platforms)

The "AuzStations: Normal Platforms" platforms could possible be removed as they wouldn't be used with the Sydney Station .. however if any one would like the to remain let me know.

I have other commitments over the weekend .. don't plan to do any more coding till after the weekend.

If like to try what I done so far and a copy of the source here they are.

Hopefully I do some more to this project during the week but will have to make some changes.

In coding only allowed 255 items (ID's) in each newgrf.

Sydney Station has already used 190. Not enough ID's left to do the station set the other 2 directions and they will need extra due to the street views from Eddy Avenue as the station is a extra level and has the tram section.

Some ideas I have to fix this:

Remove the normal platforms (this will spare 25 IDs) and just have the single sided and Islands ones.

Some of the 1x1 tile buildings makes these 2x1 especially the single story Platform 1 buildings.

But hopefully can still have them so can add to them and make them as long as you wish.

We shall see what can be done.

Made a Waypoint to go with the Sydney station set.

In Sydney there are/was 2 Signal Boxes that go over the top of the tracks.

One was at Sydney station and the other a few kilometres away is this one called Illawarra Junction.

All the photos I have seen of this signal box are in black and white .. I think the bottom section is brick and the top section weatherboard.

But that photos looks like they been painted white.

This what I designed from what I seen.

The builders for Sydney Station have ran out of supplies .. I need to go to Sydney when I get a chance to get some photos of the Station from street views, especially Eddy Avenue.

Not sure when this will happen, could be 2 to 3 weeks before I get a chance to do the journey.

So until then I be fiddling around with other projects.

Experimenting with joining several tiles for stations instead of have the single 1x1 tiles sprites.

If want a 7x7 track tiles for instance the sprite will be like this:

The idea of the non-tracks down the middle is a to put a bit of realism in it and get this effect:

Next time you at a station that has a Island Platform you will notice the tracks split to go down either side of the platform. So I like to add a bit more realism to the game.

Also having a non-track Island will allow for a better design of buildings that you find on some island stations.

I intend to make some more of these joined sprites.

The idea was good, but found some issues with it. Definitely no good for Normal Platforms. And Single sided and Island platforms the far sides glitch with trains.

Will keep working on it as I believe the idea will work.

Last week and today been train travelling and visiting stations getting photos of infrastructure found along side of railway lines and intend to make Waypoints with them and for extending platforms.

Made a few Waypoints with Track Circuit Indicators and Transmission Towers.

Problem with waypoints is that they remove the fences along the railway tracks.

The top track shows the waypoints and fence missing, so I made some object fences so the gaps can be filled as shown in bottom tracks. Just need to make some with gates.

Still got a few waypoints to make but might be Friday or the weekend before I can do any more as busy next few days.

Here the Fences and Railway Tracks both been updated today.

Next post will have the Waypoints. Will also put them individually in their correct forum as well.

I just realised I uploaded the wrong Waypoint file. I uploaded last nights version instead of the updated version that I added today.
