Still working on the Reefs and Atolls.

Looking at idea of flat islands as mention last post.

The pieces I have made will go on water or land. There are 4 types, Temperate, arctic, tropic and beach.

You can make island like this for any of the Worlds or like I did all sand with palm and coconut trees. (Trees are available for all worlds).
Make me an Island 03.png
Make me an Island 03.png (37.86 KiB) Viewed 4474 times
If you want to add other objects to the island .. things get a bit tricky .. you need to:
* pause game
* bulldoze all the area you want your island
* around the outer area of the island place your coastal pieces. (Like in this image). This will stop the area from flooding.
Make me an Island 02.png
Make me an Island 02.png (25.59 KiB) Viewed 4474 times
* Now you can do what ever you like in the bulldozed area ..

Here the game file so can give it a try and let me know if any errors or you like something else added.

Since I made those uncharted reefs been a few ship wrecks.

There 2 sets .. one where hulls are just above water and a set where parts of hull is below water.

Also looking at animating the surf and reefs. Experimenting with what I done has also given me some other ideas .. but you just have to wait to find out what they might be.

Hope to have a updates test version ready with 24 hours.

Very nice work. Now you only need Robinson Crusoe resting under a tree and for the combination of atoll and shipwreck, maybe want to consider adding some additional debris to the reef? https://tighar.org :P

see if I can find Friday first before I add Robinson Crusoe. :D
maybe want to consider adding some additional debris to the reef?
Probably could add something like a log .. a life boat .. SNO - Supercheese's New Objects has a boat wreck and seagulls flying around.

Today I in the process of converting some of water objects from Quast65's Beach Objects to 32 bit so these will match the animated surf I did as well as the reefs.

Hope have them done in time for playing with on weekend.

Been converting some Beach Objects that Quast65 did a few moons ago so they will look good with the reefs.

This is what the Object Menu Selection looks like.
ObjectSelect.png
ObjectSelect.png (8.57 KiB) Viewed 4005 times
These a few views what been done. To the left of 2 of the shore lines shows what they look like in Beach Objects .. and then what the same image looks like in this set.
Ship Wrecks 02.png
Ship Wrecks 02.png (38.64 KiB) Viewed 4005 times
The ship wrecks the bows of the ship over lap so they appear beached or should that be reefed. The bows that face a southerly direction not suitable to work with the animated surf as they will glitch.

Can any one draw some rust ship wrecks?

I've attached the game file .. WARNING but remember this is only a test file .. if you started a game with previous files, your will have some graphic issues when you use this one over the top of the previous one. Hope after the weekend to have a proper game file available.

Enjoy

Just to warn those who are using the AuzBoatingObjects and enjoying the reefs and atolls.

Experimenting yesterday and resulted in all need to be changed in what I did.

Found a nicer way to do the surf and reefs effects.

The surf: Placing sand under the transparent water to give this effect.
sandy surf.png
sandy surf.png (10.63 KiB) Viewed 3905 times
And the reefs removing the dark water and replacing it with sandy as well to get this type of effect.
sand and reef surf.png

Here also a psd file of the Sandy Surf so can get idea what I trying to achieve. There are 2 layers of individual pieces .. the transparent waters on top of the sand. To do reefs all I have to do is place some rocks between the transparent water and the sand.

Cheers all

This is where I up to with adding sand to the reefs and surf and placing transparent water on top.

I imagine the water be crystal clear around most reefs and atolls.

This look a little odd at moment as have not did the curved sections yet. Hope to do them over the weekend.

This is all very nice, but in particular with the pieces in the center, you have outdone yourself, really. I love the "porous" and non-uniform nature of those pieces. It would add further flexibility to the set if one could combine those with a "surf-only" version (without the beach and trees), that smoothly connects the center pieces with the "wide and deep blue ocean", as in some atolls, part of the reef is more or less fully submerged, at least at high tide, see for example:

Idea that just came onto me for the people who maintain the Mars-themed set(s): if you take the center piece of the reef tiles and change the colors from sandy white and blue to brownish-red, that should give very nice crater tiles. Like what's here some holes in the reef would there be some small meteorite craters.

Thanks Fredinho and ebla71 for your comments .. appreciated.

This set going in a different direction then what I intended :D and it is already larger then I expected. Allowed 255 objects and already reached 149.

So it time to split the set.

One set will contain the boats and airport type objects.

The second set can have the reefs and atolls.

And this set with the Reefs and Atolls once I get the graphics will probably call it "AuzReefsAndAtollsObjects".

Tell you more later.

AUZBOATINGOBJECTS

Those of you who use the boat sets .. EDIT: it do you know of a boat in those sets that would suit a TUG.

Looking at idea putting a tug with bigger ships to look like the tug is bring the cargo ship into harbor.

In mean time I separated the reefs from the boats.

This is the Auz Airport and Boating Objects set.

There are no reefs, surf or atolls. This set will just have boats, boats and more boats (all stationery boats for candy players .. much thanks to those who made the Fish and Unsinkable Sam sets) and any objects I find associated with boats. Some of these boats that been added are same as those in AuzWaterObjects. Also will add to this set any Airport objects I make or find.

Here the game file for this set.

AuzReefsAndAtollsObjects

Experimenting with ideas for the reefs and atolls so we will have a good variety of pieces.

Much thanks to "Pyoro" back in 2018 he allowed me to use coding for the animated car parks. I also finding this coding suitable for the reefs and atolls as well.

Gives chance for 8 different ground tiles to choose from like in this image. This image represent middle reefs with shallow water over the sand and rocks.
Sands and Reefs Part 4.png
Sands and Reefs Part 4.png (72.98 KiB) Viewed 3615 times
This image has the following reef bottoms:
Sandy bottom, Sand and Weeds, Sand and Rocks, just rocks, Sand with weeds and rocks.

Plus has 3 different shades to represent 3 different depths.

Just some tweaking to do (hope get chance tomorrow) then start on the edges and coastal areas to go with the middle reefs.

AuzReefsAndAtollObjects

Hi all, just a quick look where I up to with the reefs and atolls.

The delay was getting the water on the reefs animated and in many places the same as the ocean around it.

There will be water for a lagoon of 4 different depths. I in process working on those now so they will join up with the reefs properly.
This the most shallow of the lagoons,

AuzCreekAndDrainObjects

One of our members called "fridaemon" unintentionally reminded me of some items I coded back in 2016-17 for the Landscape.

The coastal slopes I had mixed in with the other landscape pieces. So now they are separated so easier to find.
Menu now looks like this:
Menu.png
Menu.png (39.96 KiB) Viewed 3024 times
This also reminded me of something I started on and not finished .. shrubs and sand. I had not did a shrub set that jointed the coast., I also did a shrub set with no sand.
shrubs.png
shrubs.png (75.8 KiB) Viewed 3024 times
The coastal scrub set is in the Coastal Landscape menu. (Other coastal shrubs can be found in AuzBeachObjects).

The shrubs with out sand are in the trees menu.

I never thought that creeks and landscapes would fill a grf file. I used to have them separated and was suggested to me to reduce the number of grf files so to join what ever I could. So I joined these, but there is only room for 6 more objects so might need to separate them again if there is any more to add.

AuzReefsAndAtollObjects

Finally got a working set of reefs, atolls and lagoons working. Something I thought would have taken me a few days to a week, took we a lot longer.

There are 4 reef water colours .. so I done up a menu so easier to find the parts. Reef A to Reef D. Also 4 lagoon colours that match the reef. Lagoon A matches Reef A and so on.
Reefs and lagoons.png
Reefs and lagoons.png (7.33 KiB) Viewed 2944 times
This image gives an idea what you can do and also in the 4 corners shows the 4 water colours.
Lagoon.png
Lagoon.png (67.23 KiB) Viewed 2944 times
There is only room for 22 more objects in this set .. so beaches, flat islands and any other ideas you and I have will need to go into another set.

Give it a try and let us know whatcha think.
