I noticed something in the images on that git hub link.
The pillars are placed at the back (far end) of the tile.
My bridges place them at the front (near end) of the tile.
This would mean that the towers of that suspension bridge are also wrong.
You can see my pillar placements in my tutorial here.

That is the default placement of the bridge pillars, same as in the original TTD. If that is wrong then it always has been ;) Regardless, objects behind the pillars shouldn't overlap them as they do now, so it should be fixed anyway.

Which is a good thing and yet another reason to use the latest OTTD release.

As mentioned a few posts back, seeing if can make bridges built to a odd length 3, 5, 7, etc to look a bit different in the center.

Two of the road bridges, the High Speed and the Sky Way I cam up with this idea.
Road Bridges.png
Road Bridges.png (79.06 KiB) Viewed 5630 times
I put signs on the center sections.

Main problem being those countries that drive on the wrong side of the road. That is why I got facing signs both sides the roads.

Another way around this is I just make them for Australian conditions and those countries who drive on correct side of road like us Aussies. :D

A 3rd idea since the High Speed and Sky Way Road bridges almost the same, make the bridges the same and have one of the bridges with the facing signs and one with non-facing signs.

Made some changes to the Wallis Creek bridge and made it similar to a bridge at town called Dungog in New South Wales, Australia.
Dungog Wood Bridge.png

Removed the rocks from the approahes and replaced it with grass.

Intend to let some grass grown in the approaches to some other bridges as well.

You can have a try if like but be warned more changes on the way.

Excellent work with the bridge. I've just updated this set now :D . Do you have many more plans with a set of bridges?

Cheers STD.

Thanks for the compliment.

Like to add a Lattice Railway bridges based on the ones near Bathurst and on the Blayney - Demondrille lines.

Images of them can be found here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lachlan_R ... dge,_Cowra

And see what improvements I can make to some of the graphics to the bridges already in set.

Here a sample on what I doing to the railway bridges.

Altered the level approaches to some of the bridges. Do not intend to change the sloped approaches.

(When I play I try to never use the slope ramps .. instead I make sure my railway line rises that one level before it gets to a bridge so the bridge and approaches all flat so looks nicer. like in this image).

Changes a few more bridge approaches to both rail and roads.

These are the rail bridges with some changes. (L to R)
Rail Bridge Approaches.png
Rail Bridge Approaches.png (54.7 KiB) Viewed 5353 times
* Culvert I allowed the grass to grow up through the rocks.
* Iron Plate Bridge has new level approaches.
* Brick Bridge (Designed basically for crossing over roads. (Originally they did not have a fence, but wonder if I should put a fence on these ones)
* Last 3 all have new level approaches. The far one called Cougal bridge also has new slope approaches but do not think I would ever use them.

These are the Road bridges (L to R)
Road Bridge Approaches.png
Road Bridge Approaches.png (46.78 KiB) Viewed 5353 times
* First 2 have the signs for bridges made 3, 5, 7, 9 and longer odd lengths. (Suggestions if I should change these or not as mentioned in a few posts earlier).
* Middle and last one has grass instead of rocks for the approaches.
* 4th is a brick bridge that replaced the Subway Overlap bridge. These type of bridges are used to cross railway lines. They used to have the brick fences across the track and wire fences on the approaches like in the image .. but had a look at Google Earth other day around Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia and the bricks across the tracks have been removed and replaced by wire or other types of fence.

Here the game file if like to try .. going to have a break from bridges for a while and work on something else for a change.

Something I made to add to the rail bridges over a week ago and only remembered this morning to add them.

These are safety platforms found on many bridges where those working on bridge could stand clear of any trains. Just can't remember if these was on the same side right across the bridge or did they straddle the bridge. First one be on one side and the next be other side. Any railway workers out there that can confirm this for me?

Here the Cougar, Wooden and Wooden Trestle Bridges.

And also did the 2 girder bridges.

Other day I tried to get the GUI's to work for the bridges to display the correct bridge pic when selecting the one you want .. but failed.

Might get it right one of these days.

Anyway I don't know why but the previous few versions of the bridges might have replaced these communication towers

with this.
Comm Tower01.png

All because I had just one piece of code wrong in the GUI section.

So here the fixed version ( I hope).

When I get motivated into bridge building again like to try making the lattice girder at Bathurst or Cowra as mentioned a few posts back.

And have another fight with the GUIs.

Just as a reminder: There are only 7 sprites available for the bridge GUIs, which means some of them will have to share (the shared ones can use recoloring, if desired). The sprites are assigned by bridge ID:

Code: Select all

Icon 1 (sprite# 2594) - bridge IDs 03, 04, 05
Icon 2 (sprite# 2595) - bridge IDs 06, 07, 08
Icon 3 (sprite# 2596) - bridge ID 00
Icon 4 (sprite# 2597) - bridge ID 02
Icon 5 (sprite# 2598) - bridge ID 01
Icon 6 (sprite# 2599) - bridge ID 09
Icon 7 (sprite# 2600) - bridge IDs 0A, 0B, 0C
Hopefully that helps figure out how to arrange your sprites to match the bridges (or vice versa) :)

Oh yeah forgot about that, I wish that was available in vanilla...

In case you do use those extra features then some additional code is likely needed to disable them outside of JGRPP.

Thanks Andrew350 and Wallyweb .. looks like I need to re-arrange and re-ID my bridges so that those that look almost the same can match the same GUI.

I'll fiddle with that in a few days time.
