What is the Tons that OpenTTD uses?

Post by NekoMaster »

There are many types of ton units out there with different measurements and spellings.

I find the game sometimes doesnt work with the tonnage that I see in some Data sheets. I've tried looking around to see what ton unit that OpenTTD/TT Deluxe uses but I havent gotten an answer.

Thing is, most canadians I know including myself use the AMerican Ton or 2000 pounds.

Heres the ton units I know...

Short/US Ton (2000 Pounds or 907.1847 Kilograms)
Metric Tonne (2204.62 Pounds or 1000 Kilograms)
Long Ton (2240 Pounds or 1016 Kilograms)

Which one does openTTD use for weights?

EDIT : That is, weight when coding vehicles like trucks, trains, ships, etc.

assume that for coding, everything uses metric. (except for km/h, which is a tiny bit off)

NML does the conversion for you, just tell it what you mean: https://newgrf-specs.tt-wiki.net/wiki/NML:Units
Being a retired OpenTTD developer does not mean I know what I am doing.
