It's been a while since my last post. doesn't mean I haven't been drawing. progress has just been slow.
have a few WIP's that I'm working on from time to time.

have been working on Den Haag HS. I did a version of this building last year, but it had few issues like it's scale.
So this is a new version to the scale of the buildings in DLOS and to the feedback I got from luxtram about scale of m older style buildings last year.

Some more stations that I'm working on.

the first one is Alkmaar.
Alkmaar wip.png

And the second one, is a station I really wanted to draw, but due to it already being in the dutch addition set.
but I just kept coming back to it, and because I want to play on a bigger map I wanted a bigger version of the station. A few weeks ago I was going through the dutch station tread and someone ther said
they would like to see Amsterdam as a 2x14 station. It wasn't what I set out to do but it is how it has ended up. In the my other thread you can see an older wip version before Quast65 helped me refine some elements to get to what you see below.

also shown are some Combino's that I've been working on, the one to the left is the most recent version.

I personally love the full size scale station buildings. Once i work out how to code it, i'm planning to do all the big London Stations and more.

Starting with of course King's Cross St Pancras

Been months since my last update. Been rather busy but that hasn't stopped me from drawing. its just become infinitely slower than the speed I started with almost two years ago.
So I was browsing the screenshot thread and I came across a post by jor[D]1 where I found he used one of the pieces of the Roosendaal station in an interesting manner.

viewtopic.php?f=47&t=56624&start=40#p1205445

he hinted that there was a need for some more island station buildings, one of the ones he mentioned was Geldermalsen station, it wasn't a station that I was familiar with. but as my previous posts showed, I have enough stations that still need to be finished. But geldermalsen kept pulling at me and I culdn't resist. so now showing the first finished view.
just need to texture the flipped view and make a few changes that I applied to the view I'm showing now after I started on the flipped one.

So jor[D]1 thank you for pointing me in the direction of this station. hope to have it finished soon. and then It's up to Quast65 to see how fast it makes it into the game.
decided to use the canopy from the roosendaal station so that a new one wouldn't be needed to be drawn and I think it work well.

A few weeks later and it's done.

Station Geldermalsen, I's mostly based on the station before the work they did on it. i preferred the greenish roof that the station used to have, gives it more character and differentiates it more
from already drawn stations.

So the pieces are the station without station tile and with station tile under the building.
well now that this nice distraction is out of the way i will return to the other stations in my pipeline.

cheers.

Very nice!
I really like the compact look of the station, although that did mean you needed to take a few artistic liberties (Ill get back to that later on), but you get a very nice looking result.

Two suggestions though:
1. The windows/entrances of the lower buildings (those with the 6 windows/entrances) are not evenly apart from each other, I think they should be… That way I also think that the ornamental arches above those windows/entrances will look better connected to each other.
2. I am not sure if the ornamental arches could be improved a bit... Right now they look a bit skewed to me... I tried to redraw them a bit (middle drawing, in the main building):
dordrecht%201_1_Q65_19072018.png
dordrecht%201_1_Q65_19072018.png (21.66 KiB) Viewed 4710 times
Now, about the artistic liberties ;-)
If you look at the reallife station you will notice that there is more red brick between the windows than between a window and the pillar like ornaments (those in grey inbetween the windows of the main building).
In your drawing its the other way around. Now, I have tried to draw it a bit more like the reallife situation (lowest drawing), but as you can see, you then loose that nice compact look.
So, keep it like you have done it, I think that is a good look for the OpenTTD scale.

The space inbetween the 6-window/entrance parts should be changed though to something more evenly looking, I think that could be the main improvement.
Not sure though if those then should be more like the reallife situation (like I have drawn them in the lowest drawing), or if they should be closer to each other (like you have drawn them in the main building, but then 6 in stead of 3 right next to each other)…
I think that depends a bit on how the whole thing looks...

Finally, I really like that you were able to get some steps in, in front of the building!

thanks for the quick reply.

the way you drew the main building facade is the way I had it when I drew it the first time. but found it to wide looking. but i do understand why you would like to see it like that.
it does bring a size problem with it. i'm going to have to make the connecting buildings a bit smaller to accommodate the wider facade. I'll give it a try to see what the result looks like.
because I really want the station to remain a 7 tile building.

on another note I did get around to laying the finishing hand on the Alkmaar main building.
haven't gotten around to finishing the new part of the station. getting the stairs right has been something that's been bugging me. might post it later if I don't get a result i like. plus experimenting on more roof types for the overpass.

As Silver wrote in the above posts, Alkmaar is finished, Dordrecht is in the early stages ;-)

Alkmaar looks great by the way, Ill try to code it asap.

EDIT: Whoops, just noticed that the version on the left still needs some texturing (The flat roof of the main building, the roofs of the little buildings and the roof of the awning)
Ill wait for that ;-)

indeed, Dordrecht at this point is at the form stage, that's when I usually put it up either here or in DM's for some feedback to see if there is something that i've missed before going to a more finished stage.
if i don't and I go to a finished stage I always feel less inclined to want to make changes.

made a change to the 6 windows. will need to make another few adjustments to the building. what do you think? will also have to change the back view if we go with this look.

That station is in the planning, but it's a hard one with the shape of it and all. gave it a try a few months ago but that was a total failure.
