Hi me again ... :)

Lining up those pixels can be daunting .. never thought about different colours in background to help .. could be a few others out that wee bit too.

Like the drainage to water .. that something I can look at when finish the Electricity things. In the mean time have you tried Fake Bridges .. that has a good drainage with plenty water.

The 3rd pic you sent .. having the wires going different directions from the Sub-Stations might be good too. I had a look at Sub-Station near my place this afternoon. The wires actually hang from poles above the transformers and then go down, so look at that idea soon.

Sub-stations was under the Poles .. can easily move them back.

I starting to map out the wires to go up continuous slopes .. I think I put that on hold for a moment and look at some of those ideas of yours as they look easiest to do at moment.

You think something like this will go ok in Sub-Station?

Just has some good news .. SAC contacted me to allow the use of her High Voltage Power Poles.

I like to thank SAC and offer my gratitude for allow this.

I'll finish off a few more things with the sub-station and wooden High Voltage Poles and then see what I can do with these towers.

Visit http://www.simuscape.net/ to see what other projects are available for the game.

Very cool that you got permission to use the High Voltage Poles, I look forward to using those with wires!!

I spotted a little mistake in one of the Sub-Stations with the placement of one of the trussconstructions . There is transparent blue where you should be able to see the transformator coils:
Auz22.png
Auz22.png (2.69 KiB) Viewed 1955 times
And those substations just get better and better!!! I hope these electricity graphics will also be picked up by McZapkie and implimented into his Wired-railtype or by Supercheese into the WIRES-grf, so that they actually can be used!!
The substations then can act as stations/waypoints and/or signals.

The question mark appears when an invalid sprite is referenced withing a sprite layout. Probably the ground sprite calculation goes wrong. Does it try to query the tile slope or other tile properties? That cannot be done in the purchase menu.

However I didn't see any source of this version linked anywhere, so I'm not sure how I could even start to look, should I find some time :)

The new supports with three phase coming into the transformer looks great! Maybe add some similar pieces with bus bars instead of cable? some areas in substations they use rigid metal bars or pipe to transfer current with less cost and resistance than wire - usually for things like connecting nearby transformers etc.

Thanks you Planetmaker and Quast65 .. many of you fellas are busy doing your own projects so not always easy find time specially when need to check a fella complete works.

I just transferred the copy of my Auz_Roadside_Objects to http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... 9#p1165354

See if coders that visit that section might have the time to have a look and be able to shed light on things for me. Every thing is in the zip up file associated with that project. If they can show me what I missing in just a few places, it just might help me understand it and I can then hopefully fix the rest in that project as well as Auz_Lineside_Objects.

Hi supermop, could you shed some light on what these look like? Maybe if got a pic and upload so I understand what it is?

They mostly just look like aluminum pipes - used over short distances where flexible cable is not needed.

http://dorazioenterprises.com/dwp/wp-co ... on-Bus.jpg

http://www.alstom.com/Global/Group/Reso ... G_0631.jpg

https://www.freese.com/sites/default/fi ... tation.jpg

They still are connected by insulators to structural components, and you usually see them running in threes for three-phase AC.

Could also use some of these large High Voltage circuit breakers:

http://www.distransubstations.com/image ... e-ii-1.jpg

Sometimes they add firewalls around transformers like this:

http://www.durasteel.net/invictaimages/ ... rier-1.jpg

http://www.intellifirewall.com/images/i ... rewall.jpg

..just in case they end up like this:

Thanks supermop for the pics.

I seen the pipes running everywhere at the sub-station here .. I just thought they was for support or maybe ran water through them for cooling :)

Be good if I can design or someone can design some transformers for the game .. these could be used not just at the sub-stations but along the railway lines for the electric overheads. Didn't notice any walls protecting the transformers at sub-station here, but maybe it because it not near any built up areas. It be about a km out of town.

I notice with the sub-station near my place .. it has these tall towers coming in from the west side and the other ones leaving from the other side of the complex.

But I think before I add anything else to the sub-stations I see if I can add the towers to the game first .. might need to redesign what I done with the sub-stations to accommodate the taller towers. Might be the transformer things I did might need to be a bit taller?

Cheers

Here's my first attempt at the High Voltage Towers supplied by SAC.

Do you want the red flashing lights on the top so aircraft not collide with them as they are pretty tall?

Just got some adjustments to make with the wires and see what I can do at the Sub-stations to accommodate the 6 wires.

Not sure how I gonna do the slopes yet.

supermop: They mostly just look like aluminum pipes - used over short distances where flexible cable is not needed.
I had a good look at the pics you sent me.. over time I think I might be able to do something simular .. but not be easy .. my biggest problem is I can not concentrate for very long so need to have regular breaks. Might take me weeks to get something suitably done.

I first started practicing doing things for OpenTTD back in May last year and took me months of practice to start getting anywhere. I usually find someone else's sprite simular to what I want and make what adjustments needed.

For now the transformers I have in game I will make some higher to allow the wires from the towers to connect and where there are short lengths of wires I see if can make them look like piping.

Don't worry too much about it - I think plain grey lines similar to those on the tops of the default powerplant transformer in game are fine. A lot of the small details at a substation might be too much noise at the game scale anyway.

I tried drawing substations as feeder stations for my motive power shed set about 5 years ago - and the work nearly put me off pixel drawing all together!

Understand what your mean about pixel drawing as had same problems and still do some times. That's why I some times go away from that idea for a while .. could be a week or more .. then come back and try again.

I in the process of connecting the high towers to substation now and having the pixel problems .. so for now what I done is a bit crude, but should do for game play until I have another go at it at a later date.

Here's a sample what I yabbering about.

Hi all,

This is where I am up to at the moment with the High Towers and substations.

I think I will make all the gantry work the same height.

Anyone want to play around with what I done so far as I going to have a break for a few hours or more.

You can make the Towers any distance apart you like, but only on level ground for now.
