What my plans are for Auzind.

I have a DVD called "New South Wales Track and Signal Diagrams Version 3". It has diagrams for all NSW railway stations and sidings and more.

Here's a sample:
Gunnedah.png
(162.49 KiB) Not downloaded yet
Gunnedah Stockyards.png
Gunnedah Stockyards.png (78.35 KiB) Viewed 1254 times
Gunnedah Coal Siding.png
Gunnedah Coal Siding.png (49.14 KiB) Viewed 5213 times
Diagrams courtesy of Australian Railway Historical Society located at Redfern Sydney.

This is Gunnedah in 1949. I like arrange the Industries to represent the sidings in these diagrams. Gunnedah has Grain Silos which I have in the set already, but also Grain Sheds. So hope to make a Grain Shed Industry. It has 2 Fuel Depots .. the Shell and Vacuum Sidings. So hope to have a second Fuel Depot Industry added to the game. Gunnedah has a large Livestock Siding to load and unload livestock. I believe near that siding was a Abattoirs as well.

It has a Water Conservation Siding which at present my Industry set does not have a water cargo, but hope to add it soon. The Railways delivered water to isolated railway sidings for their employees, fill water tanks when steam was king, and supply towns when there was drought.

For the fun of it, the Loco Depot I like to make a small Industry to put at these locations to accept Coal and Fuel. In the Auz_Lineside_Objects is 'Coal Stock Pile'. Like to add this to the Industry set along with some Oil Tanks.

Been experimenting with ideas past few days to see what improvements I can make.

These are some changes I thinking of making and new Industry pieces I like to add to the Auzind set:

Remove the Scrap Metal Cargo and replace it with Water.
Coal Stock Pile - for Locomotive Depots to accept Coal and Fuel.
Water Tanks and Towers - to deliver and/or produce water. Have large tanks and the twin tanks to produce water .. and the smaller ones to accept water. Staff Huts also had small water tanks that was replenished by rail when required.
Grain Sheds - extra industry to produce grain.
Fuel Siding - act same as the Fuel Depot.

Not sure how long it will take me to make those changes .. but before I start just like to think a bit more and experiment see if on right track.

Almost forgot to mention:

if you want to buy the DVD mentioned above, please contact: http://www.arhsnsw.com.au/bookshop.htm

Thanks kindly to 3iff .. as I wasn't sure what coding to change in Steel Mill so it now only needs Iron Ore and Coal.

I will be removing Scrap Metal from Cargos and adding new industries to accept and produce Water.

The Goods Sheds and Loading Banks will have their cargos changed slightly. Some smaller stations did not have both a Parcel Office and a Goods Shed so thinking of allowing the Goods Shed B to also accept and produce Parcels.

I hope to list changes as I make them here. Any suggestions please feel free to tell me.

Made A Loco refuelling Industry and Water Tower Industry.
Loco Fueling.png
Loco Fueling.png (8.7 KiB) Viewed 5157 times
At the moment:
The Locomotive refuelling Industry accepts Coal and Petrol (Fuel).
The Water Towers produces Water.

I thinking to add a Water Tower to the Locomotive Refuelling Industry so it can also accept Water.

Before I do that .. trying to decide should I have a water cargo or something else.

I can add 1 more Cargos to the set, which might end up being Fertilizer (deliver to farms that grow crops) Fertilzer can be produced by the Fertilizer Plant, Abattoirs (blood and bone), the Livestock Siding and the Livestock Sale Yards (animal manure).

I've finished the Locomotive Refueling Siding and the Water Supply Industries.
Loco refueling Siding.png
Loco refueling Siding.png (18.19 KiB) Viewed 5126 times
There are 2 types of Locomotive Refueling Sidings - One on left is for smaller depots has 2 coal piles, Water Tower and a Fuel Tank. The one of far right for larger depots has 3 coal piles, 2 water towers, and 3 fuel tanks.

Bottom Right is the Water Supply. Has a pump house below one of the tanks to pump water from nearby river or Bore-water from underground if no river nearby.

These Industry will randomly build in either direction. If you make a scenario you be able to choose which one is better for the town you build them near.

Just hope if a steam loco is taking on coal or water it not cause a fire hazard with the fuel tanks nearby.

The spare Cargo I will add the fertilizer for the fun of it. Collecting the fertilizer from the Livestock Siding and Livestock Sale Yards .. just hope it not give anyone the s**ts.

I hope today to have AuzInd finished (tomorrow at the latest) .. then I be starting AuzInd160 so can add lot more Industries. Calling it that as it may not work with OpenTTD prior to version 1.6.0.

Nearly all my Industries are related to Railways .. and mainly looking at Scenario makers so can be placed where you want. By adding more Industries I hope to add some suitable for Airports and road vehicles.

Some ideas to make a Industry to go near Airports and Vehicle Depots to deliver fuel, food and supplies to.

Cheers

Version 8 of Auzind available on page 1. Will be added to BaNaNaS shortly.

It has room for 1 more Industry if any one has a suggestion. All Cargo slots are full .. no room for any more.

Changes:

Added:

Cargos:

Fertilizer
Water

Industries:

Locomotive Refueling Siding
Water Tower to supply Water
Shopping Center

Some Industries have had their cargos changed.

See page 1 for details or the changelog.txt file.
ChangeLog.txt

I intend to now start AuzInd160 with extra Industries .. this will not work with versions of OpenTTD prior to version 1.6.0 .. might work with some previous versions of Nightlies.

Any problems please let me know.

Cheers enjoy.

Glad you like it. We do have Oil and Gas pipelines so your idea go well.

Wonder if someone can design a conveyor belt system to move minerals from mines to where needed?

There is a very simple conveyor belt system in my ISR/DWE-objects set.
The main thing that might be interesting for you to look at is the way I used the block-cycle colors to make it look like minerals are being moved.
Works kind of the same way as the water-cycle colors, so you can have movement without really having to animate the graphics. Can only be done in browns unfortunately...

I like your conveyor belt system Quast65 .. I use it to act like it loading coal and Ore on to ships.

This is a pic of a conveyor belt that carry's coal from a Coalmine to a Power Station near Awaba NSW. This photos taken just before it passes under the railway lines.

Similar conveyors are in use at coal mines to carry coal to load onto trucks and trains.
Wonder how it would look if I make some objects of this type?

Sort of a PIPELINE newgrf?
Such newgrfs are actually trains and tracks though, to make them functional as well.

Thats not a bad idea!!
Maybe interesting Garry to contact the maker of the Pipeline-GRF if he is also interested in making some sort of conveyorbelt tracktype.

If I can get hold of some NML sources files of someone elses project whether it be the PIPELINE or WIRED or someother track type that not too big .. I wouldn't mind having a go at it.

Quast65 you already have some conveyor as objects. They might be the way to go use them as the tracks so that way they will match up with your ISR/DWE-objects set.

However if someone else like to try making this set feel free to.

Well, its never a bad thing to propose this idea to the makers of PIPELINE and/or WIRED, it would be a nice addition. Right now we have oil/fluids, electricity and data, why not also minerals? That would complete it.
EDIT: the main problem I always had with my conveyorbelt was that it only has brownish flat moving graphics. For example coal should be black and in lumps, that can be done when coded as a train.

I think would look great in the game. Could use to connect mines to industries that require this mineral .. or can build one railway station between several mines and convey the minerals to this railway station for transfer to trains, trucks or even ships if the water is a distance from the mines.

EDIT: Could use different colours for the different minerals want to convey whether it Coal, Iron Ore, Gravel Copper and whatever else there is.

I've started the AuzInd160 set.

Only added one extra Industry at moment as I been testing Quast65 ideas of the 2x2 sprites sets.

Auz_Lineside-Objects been added as need to change the shading of the Grain Shed so it matched the Industry one.

Hope to make Industries from the following Objects: Motor Inn, Fastfood, Shearing Shed, Dairy Shed, and the Caravan Park (make it a Holiday Resort).
