To be honest, I'm kinda scared if I read 'more industries' and 'more cargo types'. It lowers the probability of finding a working chain in the near vicinity (I'm playing with a house rule to only build within a certain radius of an existing station, so that juicy coal cluster at the other end of the map is not for me-- yet).

That might be related to the fact, that the ratio of primary to secondary industry seems off to me. I'm too lazy to run a sample over 100 maps. but a quick check of 4 firs extreme maps against 4 auzInd maps: on average the firs map had 2-3x number of oil wells and 2-3x number of forests.

I know lot's of consumers are also basic producers, but still...Sometimes I have to restart a lot before I find something working and I'm not the cherry picking 'insist on resource A' type.

My 2€..might be completely wrong..

The ratio with my set most likely different due to the number of Industries involved. Majority of Industries in my set such as Coal Mines, Ore Mines, Steel Mill, Iron Works, Oil Wells, Oil Refineries and others are from FIRS 1.4.3 and I haven't changed the same ratio for these. Whether that is why it different for you.

Little bit of history of why I making this Industry set and the other projects I doing.

I was making a scenario back in 2014 (and not finished it yet) and there wasn't the Industries available in the Industry sets at that time what I needed. So that got me into trying to make NewGRF files for what I needed.

In May 2015 I decided to try make my own Trains and Industries (Take a look back on page 1 of this forum and the other forums I have to see list of all those who have helped and still helping me) to suit the scenarios I wanted to make of different parts of New South Wales Australia.

Industrial sets were limited to the number of Industries allowed, so I started making Object sets to act as Fake Industries. But now with OpenTTD 1.6.0 can now have double the amount of Industries which is allowing me to make more Industries that I would find along the railway lines in my State of New South Wales, Australia.

I know my Industry set will have probably way too many Industries for normal game play, but if any one making a scenario to realism and so scale, this gives them the opportunity to place the correct Industries in the locations they would have been found in real life.

That one of the reasons I re-doing the AuzInd and the objects sets to make use of the extra Industries now available. All comments and suggestion from members much appreciated so I can try and not just make these for my own use with the scenario making, but so others will enjoy too.

Cheers all

Btw, how hard is it to code a industry set with what you have?

Also is it possible to increase the maximum production of something like a mine in FIRS code?

For a long time I've wanted to make a Simple Expanded Industry Set that covers a bit more then the vanilla industries but nothing too serious like ECS or FIRS. Basically I want some extra industries and cargos but I want gameplay similar to OpenTTD's default industries.

Here is a copy of the Source files to what I doing now.

It also has a working copy (might have some bugs too so make sure the bug spray is handy) file as well. Files made this morning before I started the Cold Storage (sprite below).

It does not have 32 cargos yet .. only 31 cargos available as still not decided what the 32nd cargo will be.

This Excel 2013 Spreadsheet has a list of Industries and Cargos I have used and some ideas.

Maybe start with opengfx+industries, and extend that somewhat?

Alberth wrote:a Simple Expanded Industry Set
I kinda like to make my Industry set more simple even with all the extra Industries so that it works very similar to the default Industries. No need for Parameters to set things.

I tried removing all the "param {" setting but ended up with error messages with the switch .. not just this one but others too, so I deleted something that it referenced too.

Code: Select all

switch (FEAT_INDUSTRIES, SELF, cream_siding_1_check_availability, current_date) {
 date(1850,1,1) .. date(5000000,12,31): cream_siding_1_available_game_mode;
 return CB_RESULT_IND_NO_CONSTRUCTION;
When I finish adding and changing some of the Industries and decide on the 32nd Cargo I intend to play around with the codes again.

Be good if all Industries produce cargos even if not delivering anything there. It be kinda like that the Industry is receiving a limited amount of cargo from a invisible player. And when the actual player provides a service for what Industry Accepts, it will then increase production. More you deliver the more it produces.

CHANGELOG:

What changes I have made lately to this new Industry set:

* Changed PETROL to FUEL
* Combined Fruit and Vegetables and made it FRESH PRODUCE.
* Added MEAT as a cargo
* Change Alcohol (BEER) and called it "LIQUID MERCHANDISE" (BEER) .. it represents Alcohol, Fruit Juice, Cordials, Soft Drinks, and Milk after it been processer and watered down at The Dairy Industry.
* DAIRY now produced FOOD and LIQUID MERCHANDISE.
* Water Cargo removed.
* Water Tower Industry removed.
* Steam Locomotive Depot and Diesel Locomotive Depot have been combined as one Industry and called Locomotive Depot. It accepts COAL, FUEL and SAND.
Loco Depot-1.png
Loco Depot-1.png (56.17 KiB) Viewed 2196 times
* Added a Cold Storage Industry .. it accepts MEAT, FISH and FRESH PRODUCE and produces FOOD.
* Added a Post Office that builds in towns .. Have it Accepting and producing MAIL.
* Added Outer Suburbs .. but intend to change this again and only have small houses and make it a Rural Suburbs so that it can accept Mail and produce Fresh Produce (act like Market gardens)
Outer Suburbs3.png
Outer Suburbs3.png (143.82 KiB) Viewed 2196 times
* Added Butcher and Grocer Shops .. Accepts MEAT, FRESH PRODUCE and FISH. Produces FOOD. (See pic above)
* Removed the School
* Removed the large shop and Town Houses.
* Lake and Camping Resort renamed Holiday Resort
* Changed graphics to Cream Siding and it now produces Milk and Fresh Produce.

Tell you more later.

Cheers
* Smithy Forge renamed to Blacksmith

Changed the graphics to the Goods Sheds.

In the process of re-doing the Wool Dump and Loading Banks so the ballast under the railway lines match those in the AuzObject sets.

Some Trivia for you.

Three men go to a hotel and hotel owner asked for $30 for the room for the three. So each man paid $10. Total $30.

Later owner realise he charged them too much and should have only been $26. $4 over charge.

So he gave each man $1 back and owner kept $1. That means each person paid only $9.

So how's your maths:

Three men now paid $9 each which equals $27. The Hotel owner kept $1. $27 plus $1 equals $28 .. what happen to the other $2. :shock:

Another way to look at it .. each man paid $9 = $27 and the each had $1 = $3 .. $27 plus $3 equals $30 .. and hotel owner has $1 .. total $31. :roll:

Had a bit of a brain wave ..

wonder if be better instead one large Industry set I split it into 2 Industry sets?

Set 1 .. would have the normal industries usually found in the default set with a few extra.

Set 2 .. be a add on set for those who like a large industry net work. It will have all the new Industries I been adding such as the railway Industries, butchers, Post Office, Cold Storage and some others.

Not sure if this will work .. but thinking of giving it a try.

Good night

Before I split the Industry set and add too many more Industries .. the changes I have made to date I will be issuing it as Version 26 for AuzInd160.

The problem been having with Clay Pit closing hope this time it is fixed. Don't know how I did it, but when copying codes from SPI I some how missed some .. yet when I ran nmlc it never picked it up.

I been running a game now for a while in the back ground and has 4 clay pits and none of them has closed.

Here a copy of Version 26. Will be adding it to Bananas shortly.

I just split AuzInd160 into 2 sets.

Called AuzInd161 and AuzInd161Add-ons.

AuzInd161 will work on its own.

It has 47 Industries which are:

ABATTOIRS, AGRICULTURE FARM, ARABLE FARM
BLACKSMITH, BREWERY, BRICK WORKS, BUILDER YARD, BULK TERMINAL A, BULK TERMINAL B
CEMENT PLANT, CLAY PIT, COAL MINE
DAIRY, DAIRY FARM
FISHING HARBOUR, FLOUR MILL, FOOD PROCESSOR, FOREST, FRUIT PLANTATION, FUEL DEPOT, FURNITURE FACTORY
GLASS WORKS
IRON ORE MINE, IRON WORKS
LIME KILN, LIQUID TERMINAL, LUMBER YARD
MACHINE SHOP, METAL FABRICATION, METAL WORKSHOPS, MIXED FARM
OIL REFINERY, OIL RIG, OIL WELLS, OPEN CUT COAL MINE
PAPER MILL, PORT, POWER PLANT, PUB
QUARRY
SAWMILL, SHEEP FARM, STEEL MILL, SUGAR PLANTATION, SUGAR REFINERY
TEXTILE MILL

Has 30 Cargos (Parcels is missing).

Here's a sample if like to try:
AuzInd161.grf

RACECOURSE
SHEARING SHEDS, SUB_STATION

WHARF, WOOL DUMP, WOOL STORAGE SHED

Reason this set may not work on it's own is some cargos that are produces have no Industry to accept them.

List of Cargos

LIQUID MERCHANDISE
BUILDING MATERIAL
COAL (Accepts but does not produce)
COTTON
FISH
FOOD
MEAT (Accepts but does not produce)
GOODS
GRAIN (Produces but does not accept)
GRAVEL

Total 26 Cargos .. intend to add one more in the future.
As far as I know, the game has an upper limit of 64 industries in total, and 32 cargoes in total. I didn't carefully check for duplicates, but if you want to use both sets together, it seems the number of cargoes and number of industries should decrease.

Maybe reconsider economies?
Would make your sets much more flexible, and you can keep it all in one grf if so desired.

With OpenTTD 160 and above can have 112 Industries now.

AuzInd160 Version 26 that I put on Bananas today has all these Industries in one set. All can be used at same time.

I seen the NML of FIRS 1.4.3 has Economies but at moment it a bit confusing for me to try code what I done like that yet.

I not sure yet how many more Industries I be adding .. I been trying for a long time build a scenario as realistic as possible from Sydney to Newcastle and north to Werris Creek and Taree and branch lines. I have track diagrams and information on every railway station and siding. As I get to each siding I intend to add what ever Industry that siding handled. Hence the reason Industry sets are getting large.

Some Industries I will make as Fake Industries if I don't have the Cargos that it accepted and produced and put these in the AuzObjects sets.

Ha, sounds like fun, if you're into modeling :)

You should have a look at Cindini, it might give you inspiration how to go about it.

Thanks pal, it is fun doing these projects .. just wish I understood coding better .. I just pinching codes from FIRS and SPI to do what I need. Most of the time this works, just when I forget to copy over all the code or accidently deleted some makes it interesting .. that why Clay Pits kept closing as not had all the codes.

I also use Google Earth to follow the railway lines and if find Industries and objects not yet been made I try make them.

Once I get all the railway sidings finished I will do some of the towns that wasn't served by rail and see what Industries they had so can be roaded to/from nearest railway station.

Your suggestion about having economies instead of separate files, I been looking at FIRS codes since then to try understand what guys there have done .. bit more study and will see if I can also have Economies.

Cheers pal
