Danish Houses Set

Re: Danish Houses Set
I just discovered this thread, and I'm looking very much forward to try this lovely house set. I'm currently using the Swedish house set, but there are a few subtle differences in style between Swedish and Norwegian houses. As I'm from south-eastern Norway, your style isn't very far off from what I'm used to. And until 1814 we too flew the Dannebrog
Re: Danish Houses Set
I really support your plan of starting with a 1900-1950 set.
Then you can add earlier or later buildings at the pace you want.
It's still very relevant to include some pre-1900 buildings, that you have already drawn for the set. Because many of these houses still exists today.
Your link to the different types of houses is very good, and I'm sure you can find some very good inspiration from this.
I have added another link (at Google Docs) to some house types of single-family houses (danish text only).
At this page there are many sub-pages with informations about each main type of houses.
I do have yet another idea for you.
Would it be possible to add some small sections of fields to the outskirts of the cities before the 1950's-1970's?
It could be coded like a house, but just look like a field.
The idea is to make a little more spaces between the houses at the edges of the cities, before the cities started spreading rapidly from the 1950's.
Maybe this is a silly idea, and it might not look good.
I would really like to see you draw some danish trains at a later point

Yes, indeed. I think it will work for well that way. It will come eventually, I'd REALLY like to see a town in 2000 with some houses from 1700 still standing, like it is today.Jimbow wrote:I really support your plan of starting with a 1900-1950 set.

That's the charm of European cities, the history go waay back
That's a brilliant idea. Maybe even get some houses to spawn farms around the city, like the cattle farm does? (I have no idea if this is possible.)Jimbow wrote: I do have yet another idea for you.

But something like the attachment should look nice. Even clean farming area, as you suggested.
Problem, when people use custom farm GRFs, but I guess compatibility could be fixed with a few parameters of the most common farm GRFs.
I also thought of adding allotment gardens
Also I saw somewhere, someone managed to spread out the outer cities, that might work well with this too. (Can't remember who or where)
An issue would be to change this behavior, but if it is possible, it would come with some cool gameplay elements,
like getting the outer city connected with the inner city, and then the change, where people move to the inner cities, as it grows.
Thank you so much for the suggestions, they are really helpful!!
I'm glad Norway enjoys this tooleifbk wrote:...

Re: Danish Houses Set
I also think, that you should start with houses 1900–1950 and maybe a few older houses. No one needs the newer buildings... (I at least...)
It is really nice, what you do!

Re: Danish Houses Set
Really great.
I like the smaller townhouses with the gardens.
However I think the people would like to have a few plants, as it looks a bit empty now.

I think I'll wait until I'm more sure of where to go with vegetation, I don't know if I should do my own style, or just go with the original for compatibility...
I forgot the one you send me, from Lolland
It's a nice tip with the real erstate pages, thanks.

Would it be possible to create a 2-tile block, with a small house on one tile, and a garden on the other?

I just finished up this one, it would be nice with a back garden too
Edit, just lightened up the white lines on the dark side, the are way too dark here

Houses are limited to either 1x1, 1x2, 2x1 or 2x2 tiles in OpenTTD. Other sizes are not supported.Krutzelpuntz wrote: Yes, houses can be up to 4x4.

Thank you for the correction, my brain was messing it up
Re: Danish Houses Set
I like the art style of these buildings, they are very well made! They remind me a lof of what I imagined my Swedish houses would look like. Makes sense tho seeing Sweden and Denmark are neighbors I hope this project isn't dead. I really want to see more of it! I'm currently trying to start up the Swedish houses project again but progress is slow due to lack of time. Maybe a collab between the sets? Like an all out Scandinavian house set?

Re: Danish Houses Set
It would be sad if this development was stoped completely.
A combination between a danish and swedish (and maybe norweigan) set would be nice, as there are some common designs.
However, I think it should be possible to choose by a parameter to only use houses from one of the countries.
Regarding the danish set, I think it would be good to get some structure into the set, and maybe code some of the houses, to see how they look in the game. Of cause this makes less sence if the artist is not active anymore, and no other artist want to take over.

Re: Danish Houses Set
And this is why it is important for artists to state very early on (preferable in the first post or in the personal signature) under what license they want to release their work.
That way abandoned projects can be picked up by others (or not depending on license, but at least that gives clarity).

Re: Danish Houses Set
Hello everyone. I'm not dead, BUT.
I have not been working on the project for some time now, due to long term sickness, and therefor loss of motivation.
I hope to some day resume the project, as I really like it, but it is not possible for me now, or in the forserable future
Of course, it is ALL in GPL2, so feel free to continue the work, if you are feeling up for it.
I'll update the first post, to say the project is on pause, and the license status. Good call
I'm sorry I left this project untended, but I guess I just hoped all the time, that suddenly one day I would have the energy to continue, but I now realize this is not the case. At least for some time...
Here is a small thing to look at while I'm gone

Very sad to hear about your condition, hope you will get better soon!!
Would you mind posting the graphics you have done so far in one graphics file?
I think there are some that I would like to include in my town-walls object set, would be a shame to keep this wonderful work unused

Hey Krutzelpuntz,
I still have some drawings of Houses of a German Houses Set never finished, I also offered them to the Swiss Guy drawing TARS, so if you want to use them you can have them, as inspiration or for your set.
All I should know is how you want them.
