When I started doing the Auz_Lineside_Objects .. I never expected to add so many objects to it .. my intentions was just to have some signal boxes, staff huts, signs and the water towers. Hence why I never started a separate forum for the objects.

Anyway it here now so might as well stay in this section.

Been suggested I make some roads as objects .. what your opinion?

If I do here is a sample of 4 different unsealed roads:

Far left is McZapkie's Trackbed from WIRED. It looks like a track used occasionally.
Next is from Foobar's Useless Tracks .. be suitable for stock routes and roads just used a bit more.
Then a well used dirt road which I made.
And on right I took some gravel and sand from FIRS Quarries and made a Gravel road.

If you like this idea, I happy to try make and add to the objects.

Not sure why when building the creeks on slopes that 2 icons have the blue question mark ..
Doublecheck your code, regarding the basetile you refer to. You may refer to a basetile that has the wrong slope.

The idea of object-dirtroads is nice, turning them into a railtype (as we still lack multiple roadtypes....) maybe is even nicer (you could then make special vehicles that only use those, like the Pipelines GRF or the Electricity GRF)

Keep up the great work!

I see if I can make these designs as objects to start with .. and maybe later I can learn how to make them railtype. Going to need to start another Object project for them as the objects I been doing getting crowded.

Might be also good idea to move these object projects to their own forum and leave this forum to the trains.

If I start a roadside_object project has any one got some ideas what to include .. Dutch Road Furniture has road signs covered, but if any one can think of any other objects look good for the roads let me know.

I'll ponder over this idea for a day or two and see what can come up with.

Hi all,

I'm transferring the Auz_Lineside_Objects to a new forum and keep this site reserved for AuzTrains and NSWTrains.

Site is called Auz Lineside and Roadside Objects. Found at http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=74510

Cheers

Hi all,

I been quiet here as busy with the AuzInd160 set and making some new bridges with Wallyweb.

In the Auzind160 there are several Industries associated with railway stations and siding. To co-inside with other train sets these start appearing from 1828.

However in Australia first loco wasn't available till 1855 .. I wondering if for the fun of the game change the date of this loco and a few carriages and wagons to also be available in 1830 to co-inside with everything else. Leave all the other locos etc to their proper date.

Whatcha think?

Hi all,

Sorry I not added any more trains to these sets for a long time.

Not sure when I will do any more but hope to return here some time in year 2017.

Reason not done any more here is because of other projects I doing with Industries sets, object sets, landscaping, bridges and also been asked to do towns.

I been working on a scenario for a long time from Sydney to Newcastle at a scale of 25 tiles equal 1 km and continue northwards to Werris Creek and Taree at a scale of 1 in 10 per km.

When making this scenario and I was adding trains it didn't affect the scenario.

However when I did updates to Industries, Objects and any of the other things I doing did effect the graphics in my scenario and if I added a new Industries had to rebuild all the Industries I already had and sometimes it upset the cargo distributions.

So I intend to finish the Industries, Objects and other projects first and once these are done then I intend to get back to doing the trains sets again.

Hope you and your families all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

Cheers all.

Not against rules letting me know of problems like these. All those who do programming for the game appreciates people telling them of any errors. As much as we try to get all working properly we do miss the occasional mistakes.

Hope to fix this error you found within the next few days. Cheers pal .. Thanks you

No matter how old a newgrf is good to hear from people who finds a problem. Even if it been updated since still report it in case it was missed in updates as well.

I done several tests of the celestial carriages and all work fine .. no white lines. So wonder if your using a older version.

Will re-release both AuzTrains and NSWTrains as while checking the problem you reported I found a few others graphic problems.

Might take me a day or two to check through them all.

Cheers

I done a fair bit of testing and unable to find the problem you showing in the pic you attached.

Wonder if you using a older version.

Which set are you using NSWTrains or AuzTrains?

Here's a copy of both .. version 6. Not release on Banana yet.

While looking for fault you reported found, found a few other graphic errors.

Some errors I found and fixed:

Gen4 and Gen 5 Hopper Ore Wagons some had an alignment problem.
Generation 2 Hopper Wheat Wagon also had a alignment problem.
Gen 4 and Gen 5 Container_carrier_tranktainer Wagons had some pixels blinking.
Gen4 Flatcar_Machinery also had some pixels blinking.

2 Diesel locomotives had not been completed .. the 44 class blue livery was a 48 class loco, and a 442 Candy loco still had blue livery.

There are still a few issues I've noticed I like to fix before releasing on Bananas .. hope to have finished tomorrow or day after.

However to see if your problem is fixed, would you care to download one of these and see if you have the same problem.

I fixed all the graphics errors I could find.

Could not find the problem of Clerestory Carriages .. I probable found that before and if Maddog45353 was using the latest I has released on Bananas, it possible I forgot to update Bananas after I had fixed some errors.

Just one of those things.

Some of the problems I did find such as alignment problems, flashing pixels, and some the graphics hadn't been finished.

Some locos affected by flashing pixels and incomplete were: SAR 900 Class Diesel, NSWGR 44 Class Candy, NSW 81 Class candy, VR X-Class, VR Sprinter, QR Tilt Train, QR 35 and 39 Class, NSW Parcel Van, QR SMU200 and QRSMU220.

Hope I found them all.

Changes I made:

When you click on depot and select New Vehicles .. Locomotives, EMUs, DMUs had the initials in white what State they from .. I re-coloured these so make it a bit easier to find the State you want.

3rd, 4th and 5th Gen Silo (Grain Wagons) .. changed Weight, speed and Capacity to what they are in real.

I have information on most Freight Wagons on Tare and Capacity and intend to change these in the coding so they be as realistic as possible.

I intend to try find out the speed of all vehicles. Those I unable to find the speed for them I'll make all 4 wheeled Wagons with Plain Bearing Axles (also known as Friction Bearings) to 60 or less. All Bogies Axles 80 or less.

Those will roller bearing axles will set their speed between 80 and 120 unless I can find information showing they could travel faster. I know some container wagons could do 140 so will set all these to that speed.

All that will take me a few months to do as will need to visit Railway Archives in Sydney for some information.

Will release the AuzTrains and NSWTrains on Bananas later in week. Then update them every few weeks as I find the information I want and change the codes to suit.

Cheers

Good the problem solved .. now I know it ok will release Version 6 on Bananas later today.

Changes to Version 6 are:

Fixed graphic issues.

Maximum Speed of Freight Wagons:

Gen 1 maximum speed limit is 40 km/p.h.
Gen 2 maximum speed limit is 60 km/p.h. (Some are 40 km/p.h.)
Gen 3 maximum speed limit no greater then 80 km/p.h.
Gen 4 maximum speed limit no greater then 100 km/p.h.
Gen 5 speed limit between 80 and 120 with some wagons allowed 140 km/p.h.

AuzTrains has trains from all over Australia from all other States.

NSWTrains only has trains that worked in the State of New South Wales.

Eventually when I get more locomotives from other States installed I hope to split AuzTrains into each of the other States.

I live in New South Wales and worked for the railways here that's why I doing a separate NSWTrains set as I know more about these then other States.

I released Version 6 of both AuzTrains and NSWTrains on Bananas.

I purchased from Australia Railway Historical Society Shop (ARHS) in Redfern, Sydney on DVDs copies of General Appendix for the years 1894, 1902, 1907, 1919, 1927, 1935, 1944 and 1945.

(If you also want a copy visit their website at http://www.arhsnsw.com.au/bookshop.htm)

Information in this DVD and railway books I have of my own gives me information of trains that was being used in NSW at that time.

I hope to use this information to put some realism in the train sets.

It gives me Description of type of vehicle, Codes (ID), Tare, Capacity, Wheels, length and number of passengers they carried plus more.

Hope to include as much of this information in future issues of these train sets.

Trains in the 1800s and early 1900s will speed along at a fast 40 km per hour. :)

Re: Australian AuzTrains and NSWTrains

Post by NekoMaster »

I wonder though, it might be a bit of work but for people unfamiliar with Australian motive power, I was wondering if it might be possible to add some extra text to the locomotives like I did for my NARS Addon to provide "Suggested Usage", like for example, I'm pretty sure the QR Class 2100 diesel-electrics would have "Suggested Usage : General Purpose" or the NSWGR AD60 Garrats "Suggested Usage : Heavy Duty"

This is mostly a suggestion but it does help stupid people like me figure out which locomotives to use for certain tasks, especially for early lighter locomotives. I was playing the Australian scenario modified with AuzTrains and set for 1950, I tried setting up a small railroad on the small island of Tasmania and I went through like 3-4 small steam locomotives before the first Queensland Rail locomotive came out (I think the 1100 Class)

That could be a good idea, especially for steam .. Some of the books I have show if the steam was build for goods or express so could go through that and see what I can add.

Like to start adding some more rolling stock .. but been that long since I did any work in the train department need to practice a bit and learn again.

Start with Freight Wagons first as they be the easiest as the books I been reading through will allow me to add some more.

Shall see what I can do.

EDIT:

Looking though my books they show the following for Steam:

Mixed = meaning they haul either goods or passenger
Goods = Goods trains
Heavy Goods Heavy Goods Trans
Express = Fast Passenger and Fast Goods
Passenger = Suburban Passengers

All diesels where built to haul either and a few smaller one for shunting and local work. So I show Shunter with those engines involved in shunting.

How they sound?

I guess that sounds good, I'm more use to having diesels and electrics still having some usage suggestions, but as you said, most diesels are designed for mixed use, though I know a few are built for express stuff like passengers. I do believe though there are some diesels more geared towards freight like the 421 Class

But I guess I'd be happy for now with steam engines having some suggestions so that I can have an idea what to use them for.

In other news, I wonder if there will ever be any Tasmanian stuff for the set.
