I'll be a bit busy in this period (fortunately) so drawings will have to progress at a slower rate (unfortunately). Still, this is the loot from last two days...

Hey Voyager, here's how you could draw a truck but still call it a bus: :P

The Cuban "Autobus Camello" or "Camel Bus" (Based on International 9600 truck, seen most commonly in pictures)
Here's a video of one being crammed with passengers

Code: Select all

Int. Year 1989
Length 2/8+7/8
Capacity: 300 passengers
Horsepower: 325
Weight: 20t
Speed: 90km/h
Type: Urban bus, 6 passenger-width doors

A 2cc Bus Set? This is to my interest!

Looking at the table of buses I'd like to "put my oar in" with some buses from my local transit authority (two current, one on order, one historic):
    • Model: New Flyer Industries DE60LFR
    • Type: U; Articulated
    • Introduction Year: 2005
    • Exit Year: 2014
    • Weight: 19.82
    • Power: 330
    • Speed: (See Note 1)
    • Passengers: 107
    • Doors/PDWE: 3
    • Length: 18.8
    • Photo:
      Image
    • Model: New Flyer Industries C40LF
    • Type: U
    • Introduction Year: 1991
    • Exit Year: 2007
    • Weight: 13.562 (See Note 2)
    • Power: 280
    • Speed: (See Note 1)
    • Passengers: 78
    • Doors/PDWE: 2
    • Length: 12.5
    • Photo:
      Image
    • Model: General Motors TA60-102N "GM Artic"/"The Bendy Bus"
    • Type: U; Articulated
    • Introduction Year: 1982
    • Exit Year: 1982 (See Note 3)
    • Weight: (See Note 4)
    • Power: 255
    • Speed: (See Note 4)
    • Passengers: 196
    • Doors/PDWE: 3
    • Length: 18.3
    • Photo:

We gotta get some Canadian stuff being represented here!

Notes:
  1. I have not been able to find the actual top speeds for either of the NFI buses. However, I did speak with a long time driver for the HSR who has driven the C40LF, and DE60LFR; the HSR purchased two sets of DE60LFR buses the first in 2007 (actually the HSR debuted the DE60LFR bus for NFI) and the second set in 2009. The driver I spoke with has gotten the 2007 series DE60LFRs up to 100 km/h (speed limit on our highways) and guesses he could probably push the bus to 105~110 km/h; the 2009 series had governors installed that limited the bus to a top speed of 90 km/h. The C40LF buses were described as similar, although they had "absolutely terrible acceleration."
  2. I cannot find the weight of a C40LF (CNG powered), so that's the weight of the DE40LF (diesel-electric hybrid).
  3. The province of Ontario said "Let's make articulated buses." GMDD said "Urgh, fine. Have your damn buses." The HSR then promptly went "Asdfjsldfkjsdfkjsdfkjl MORE!" after trying them out.
  4. I cannot find the numbers for the weight and speed of the TA60-102N.
  5. Again not able to find the speed. But going by the norm here, it'll probably be run at 100 km/h high way speeds (along The Linc and QEW), probably with space to get up to 105~110. The HSR may however speed limit it like their other newer buses down to 90.

Hahahahaha!!! Nice! I will certainly add this one.

A couple of remarks though...

Capacity 300 passengers - no freakin' way. The 24-meter Renault Megabus is a double articulated bus and it can hold only about 235 passengers.

Weight - 20 tons is too little IMO. That truck alone must have 20 tons!

Speed od 90 kph is too high IMO. The most modern "urban" buses go up to cca 100-110.

Lenght - leave that to me, drawing wise, I already have a system of converting meters to pixel lenghts. What I'd need from you are actual lenghts in meters.

Multiple sources give the capacity as up to 300-400 passengers. Also see the video :P Perhaps it could be reduced to 200 for balance reasons.
Voyager One wrote:Weight - 20 tons is too little IMO. That truck alone must have 20 tons!
An empty semi truck and trailer weighs around 15 tons. 20 tons is a high estimate to account for windows and seats.
Voyager One wrote:Speed od 90 kph is too high IMO. The most modern "urban" buses go up to cca 100-110.
Agreed. While that truck could easily be capable of 100+, they probably wouldn't exceed 60 or 70 in their setting.
Voyager One wrote:Lenght - leave that to me, drawing wise, I already have a system of converting meters to pixel lenghts. What I'd need from you are actual lenghts in meters.
The length of a semi trailer is around 20 metres. 15 for the trailer and 5 for the cab (including gap).

20 metres is 10/8 according to my calculation table. So it will probably be 3/8+7/8.

I cannot use that enormous capacity, it's not realistic.

All buses that use standing places (urban and suburban buses in this case) have a total of standing places calculated with cca 7-8.5 people per square meter of space. These 300-400 go far above that average and there are two options: scaling down the Cuban bus or scaling up all other buses. Guess what's gonna be...

That's reasonable.

Okidoki, I can live with that.

Yep! There is one more double articulated bus on the list, the Van Hool ExquiCity 24. :D

Ahhh, I must have missed the drawing first time round  Beautifully drawn I must say. This thing will own all Intercity Bus Routes on the game I think, unless of course you've given it a couple of drawbacks
