2.0.0-Alpha-3 is now on Bananas. Does break savegames sorry.

EMUs, and more pax cars mostly. And the most pointless BAD FEATURE so far. But it's a hidden one, good luck finding it

---------------------
2.0.0 Alpha 3 Release
---------------------

Iron Horse 2.

It ain't done but it's kind of fun.

Stick to 1950-2050. Trains introduced before 1950 may have unfinished sprites.

Designed to be used with 'vehicles expire' set to to 'on', Horse 2 has a *lot* of vehicles and crowds the buy menu unless expiry is used.

Release Notes, for the Reading of

- use with Termite railtype grf to get Metro and Narrow Gauge trains
- the alpha doesn't contain every train planned, stay tuned for future cookies
- running and buy costs are set, but might need tweaks
- vehicle sprite alignment issues are known
- extensive cargo sprite support, but some cargo sprites are known to be missing
- no savegame compatibility with Iron Horse 1
- can be used _alongside_ Iron Horse 1, if you must (kind of odd, but eh)

Changes from 2.0.0 Alpha 2

- no savegame compatibility with previous 2.0.0 Alpha releases

- add electric railcars:
- Athena, Geronimo, Breeze, Zeus for passengers
- Ares, Dover, Jupiter, Pylon for mail/express cargos
- introduced 1927-2017
- hidden silly easter egg for electric railcars, hard to find

- add more 'standard' passenger cars
- 3 short passenger cars introduced 1860-1930
- 3 long passenger cars introduced 1960-2020

- increased capacity of all passenger railcars and all 'standard' passenger cars

- added 3 long express cars, introduced 1960-2020
- improved appearance of vehicle images in docs
- updated translations from web translators
- numerous codechanges for graphics generation, capacity calculation etc

Each depot has 5 identical trains in it. 5 different company colours set by groups.

I see a lot of 80's liveries, but I can smell some bad breath... Any chance of some toothpaste?

I tried it a couple of times already. Not enough pixels to make it look good. Needs a 1 px red stripe with 1px white either side. :|
Maybe I'll revisit it in future :D

Woahhh! That looks pretty fancy.

I've been watching and playing around with the nightlies for quite a while (because this grf is quite very awesome), but where does one get the magic ability to do that? I'd quite like to toy around with that if possible~

Until it's merged to trunk, you'd have to compile this yourself: https://github.com/PeterN/OpenTTD/tree/group-livery .
Oh, it's a... patch? Hmm...

I have no experience with patching things, so time to figure out how to do that... any useful links would be appreciated~ (and any information on whether or not it'd be possible for me to use both that and JGR's Patchpack)

Something to adjust?
How about a cargo decay modifier on the luxury coaches and a higher top speed to make up for thier lower capacity per tile? Passengers would pay more for a luxury coach after all....
Are there modifiers on the reefer cars?
Just something to think about.

Already there ;) I need to put some info in the buy menu about it. Cargo decay bonus also done for reefer and edibles tank cars.

Also some types of wagon have loading speed bonuses, also needs some info.

Meanwhile....

The liveries look great!
Is there a way to restrict which wagins can be attached to what locos? As it stands a 20 tile train with short wagons is generally lighter, cheaper to run and has a higher capacity than the longer ones. There's little point in using long wagons other than eye candy. Short wagons could only be hauled by shunters or just lower thier speed a touch to give the long ones an advantage.

[Raised eyebrow]

The wagon capacity and running costs scale by length ;) For any given type, should come out the same for long/med/short.

Weight varies a bit, the longer wagons get a bit of a weight advantage, but you need a long train to really notice it.

If you can find results that don't match the screenshot, it might be a bug, so let me know eh :D

My trains are up to 20 tiles long. I'm only in 1930, so might just be the early ones. I'll do some digging Monday and let you know.
