i don't want to interrupt in you discussion, but i would extremly appreciate (and many others) if you would make the CANSET. compatible with FIRS and perhaps even ECS. it could be in an update or just in a different grf (like the dutch set had done).

As stated, the next version will be completely newcargoes compatible. I'll post more here once coding has restarted.

Re: (UNIV) Canadian Train Set Development - *Update 11/09/11
is it possible to set up a newgrf vehicle set to be forward compatible with future industry sets?
Also, will CANSET still only get one last update for OpenTTD? Im sure that there could be something done about the whole TTDP and OpenTTD thing, maybe when the OpenTTD part is created, the TTDP part will have any OpenTTD specific code removed and/or changed to be compatible with TTDP. I don't know how well the conversion would go nor how difficult it would be since I'm not a coder.

Meaning, as long as those future industry sets use the newcargoes scheme (piece goods, liquid, refrigerated, express cargo, etc), then this Canset will be compatible. It may not have the perfect graphics for the particular cargo, but you should be able to transport almost anything.DanMacK wrote:As stated, the next version will be completely newcargoes compatible. Re: (UNIV) Canadian Train Set Development - *Update 11/09/11
The Canset will not be updated as OzTrans wrote most of the code. It will be redone with all new coding.

Is there any work done already, asking because I have promised to deliver some locomotives to this set!?
Actually I think that when we are the point where we need all the sprites just shoot me with the PM!

Re: (UNIV) Canadian Train Set Development - *Update 11/09/11
I stumbled across a nightly build of CanRail (r18) on openttdcoop/bundles.
I tested it and apparently there are no trains. Is this because it is an early version, or am I doing something wrong (OTTD r24753)?

Early version, that's all there is to it.

It is an early build, yes. Planetmaker has offered to restart the set in .nml. Look for an official update soon.

Though I can nearly promise due to RL constraints (my December is nearly fully booked) that there won't be much of a Christmas surprise Familiarizing with and trying to adopt CETS' generation tactis to this set takes a bit timeDanMacK wrote:It is an early build, yes. Thank you all!
Anyway, from what I could glance in the settings, this looks quite promising... (can't wait )
